Originally, the 's mutations were intended to be the egg and the four chicks that lined up behind the mother. However, this was changed to mutations affecting only the mother to allow the chicks to interact with each other. The 's name may derive from the words "chipped", as well as the "cheep" or "chirp" of a chick. The was originally intended to have the name Chichichiip. Its name was changed on April 22, 2026 at 11:15 PST.
