Vulpiruth

EpicDragonsDragon Adventures

Overview

"While rather elusive in nature, the Vulpiruth- a seasonal dragon commended for its swiftness- are known to be some of the most curious bunches of dragons throughout Dragonaria. It's not uncommon to spot these dragons exploring anything that catches their attention, whether that be a tortoise flipped on its shell, or a distant crash in the forest. Even so, these dragons are swift on their feet- they usually only appear as a flash of orange through the green foliage.

It's not uncommon to spot these dragons exploring anything that catches their attention, whether that be a tortoise flipped on its shell, or a distant crash in the forest. Even so, these dragons are swift on their feet- they usually only appear as a flash of orange through the green foliage. Somehow, without wings, they will take flight during the night while the moonlight seeps through the trees. It is speculated that these dragons have a close connection to the moon, much like their distant cousins the Casirus. They may not be the best when it comes to a fighting companion, but they are quick and nimble footed which makes it easy to get out of scrapes when flying isn't an option. Taming one of these dragons can be a hassle, though rest assured their loyal and playful companionship makes them a lovely dragon to have around."

Trivia

Modeled by Twilight. Animated by Twilight. The Vulpiruth borrows part of its name from the genus vulpes, meaning "fox" in Latin. The Vulpiruth was based off of the red fox. The Vulpiruth's concept art depicts it with a primary color mouth marking, however no such marking is present on its model. In the Vulpiruth's concept art submission, the Vulpiruth was noted to have four digits and a thumb on its forelimbs, although in-game it lacks thumbs. The Vulpiruth was also submitted with four hatch presets that were each based off of real fox coats. It is unknown as to why the "hatch" presets were not added. The Silver Pelt preset may have been designed after the silver fox, a melanistic form of the red fox. The preset's coloration also resembles the platinum color morph. The Arctic Whisp preset was likely based off of the arctic fox. The Blue Fox preset may be based off of the blue morph of the arctic fox. The Desert Storm preset was likely based off of the fennec fox. The Vulpiruth emits a trailing wind-like effect from its hips when moving. At an unknown date, the trailing effect became the Vulpiruth's secondary color instead of the original white color. The Vulpiruth is related to the Casirius, as stated in its Dragonpedia entry. Both dragons were also based off of canines and have a connection with the moon.
