Geoteryx

EpicDragonsDragon Adventures

Overview

"Nobody is certain about the origins of the Geoteryx. Recent theories suggest it formed in a cavity of leftover volcanic rubble after a large-scale eruption. These wyverns are rarely encountered within caverns and crystal mines. They have an extremely powerful bite, which allows them to crunch down excess stone and crystals as a source of food. The more they consume, the longer and sharper the crystal formations on their back become.

It is said all dragons of this species are vastly different from one another, as their spikes are unique in size and shape. They mainly focus on keeping these sharp in order to keep their defense high. Despite being large and intimidating dragons, they remain defensive while in combat."

Trivia

Modeled by Erythia. Animated by Erythia. The Geoteryx's name is a combination of the ancient Greek root γη or γαια (geo), meaning "earth", and the Greek root πτέρυξ (ptéryx), meaning "wing" or "feather". The Geoteryx appears to have been based off of agates, amethyst, and geodes. It was the third mission dragon to be added into the game, with the Magmip and the Soukeyi being the second and first respectively. The Geoteryx originally required the Competitive Natured title to be hatched. The and Lepilon were originally classified as world dragons and originated from Accessory Island. When the world was removed, both dragons became obtainable from the Dragon Pass in certain Dragon Seasons. The and Lepilon became classified as Guild Wars dragons on March 10th, 2023. Both dragons became classified once more as Accessory Egg dragons on March 7th, 2025, after they were removed from the Guild Wars Egg. The Geoteryx and the Lepilon were the only dragons obtainable from seasons to be exclusively obtainable from the Dragon Pass. The Geoteryx was made breedable on March 8th, 2024, alongside the Aeroseys, Araneaix, Falugeis, Fayrah, Harvitius, Hexalios, Lepilon, Nakahii, and the Stymelisk with Wave 3 of the breedable Soul Bound dragons. On June 7th, 2024, the Geoteryx's permanent white and Glass material were replaced with a tan coloration and a rocky material. This change is currently only present in Desert and it is currently unknown if the change will be published to other worlds or not.
