Overview[1]
Ranked (Duels) is a competitive Gamemode in The Strongest Battlegrounds that allows you to fight players at a similar level of rank as you. To join the ranked Gamemode, you must double-click the crossed swords icon on the top left of your screen. Upon doing this, you will be sent to a lobby, consisting of two queues of sub-gamemodes, the 1v1 gamemode, 2v2 gamemode and 3v3 gamemode. For defeating an opponent, you will receive a certain amount of ELO. This is used to increase your rank (not your title). There a 7 ranks in Ranked, not counting the Unranked.
1v1
In the 1v1 gamemode queue, you will wait until you get paired up with a player that has a similar rank to you, before fighting the said player. Upon a successful pair up, the 2 players will get teleported into the ranked map. When loading in, the user can select the Character they desire. 10 seconds after both players have loaded, a countdown of 3 seconds will begin. After the countdown starts, the player can no longer choose their character. Each player has 2 lives and spawn at opposite sides of the map. Upon beating an opponent with a similar rank as you, you will steal 5 rank from the opponent. But if the 2 players have a large rank difference: If the greater ranked player wins, they steal the lower ranked player's 1 rank, and if the lower ranked player wins, they can steal the greater ranked player's 10 rank.
2v2
To access the 2v2 gamemode queue, you must first send a team request to a player in the lobby, if the player accepts, you both will access and be sent in the 2v2 queue. In this gamemode, you'll have to fight a different pair with similar ranks along with your teammate. If you and your teammate have the same character equipped, one of you will be forced to another character, and the game will select a random character for the player to use. Although this is a team-based gamemode, you can still damage your own teammate, so beware of accidentally damaging your teammate. If the rank difference between teammates is too big, it will not average their rank for matchmaking and just use the player with the highest rank, this was added to prevent people from utilizing low rank players to fight lower ranked players resulting in easier matches allowing for easy rank gain.
Patch history
When the Ranked gamemode was released, the following occurred: The map was only a small baseplate. The 2v2 gamemode did not exist as it was added much later. When killing anyone with a finisher or ultimate move the "GAME!" ending would be replaced with an "ULTIMATE GAME" Using in private servers and joining duels only works in 2v2's, the character indicator displays the Sorcerer icon. When the countdown starts, it will automatically change it to, if you and your teammate is using, it used to let you and your teammate use the same, however it has been patched. You cannot perform a wall combo using the invisible wall around the platform. In a match, if you look closely on the "3", "2", "1,GO!", "GAME!", "ULTIMATE GAME!" texts, you can see all the different game icons that were used. Previously, images from the Anime/Manga, One Punch Man, were used instead. On the right there's a video of the old icons and sound effects at the start of a round (video is from the owner of the game). Underneath it is a screenshot featuring the old Ultimate Game. In the icon "3" shows an icon of Saitama/The Strongest Hero. In the "2" shows an icon of Garou/Hero Hunter. In the "1" features a character named King who is not in the Strongest Battlegrounds but is in the One Punch Man anime. In the "Ultimate Game" features a character named Bang who is also not in the game but is also in the One Punch Man anime.
