How to Trade in Adopt Me (Without Getting Scammed)
Updated Jul 14, 2026
Trading is how you get the pets you actually want in Adopt Me. Here's how the trade window works and how to avoid the most common scams.
How to open a trade
Walk up to another player, click them, and choose Trade (or press 1). Both players enter the trade window and add items with the green "+" button. Every time either side adds or removes something, a 5-second countdown restarts — when it finally reaches zero, both players must press the green Accept button. If anyone declines or leaves, the trade cancels.
You have 18 trade slots per side.
The Trade License
To trade Ultra-Rare and Legendary items you need a Trade License, earned by taking a short test at the Safety Hub (behind the Farm Shop). The license also lets you view your trade history and report scammers.
WFL and the "unfair" warning
"WFL" (Win / Fair / Lose) is community shorthand for judging a trade. Adopt Me has its own version built in: if the game thinks a trade is lopsided, it warns both players and adds 15 extra seconds so you can reconsider before accepting.
Common scams to watch for
- Trust trading — "you go first and I'll add mine after." Never do it; there's no take-backs.
- Neon/Mega switch — they show a Neon, then swap it for a normal pet at the last second. Always re-check the window before the final accept.
- Give-and-return — "let me hold it to show my friend." You won't get it back.
- Duplication / free Robux / fake NPC scams — if it sounds too good to be true, it is.
Golden rule: only trust what's in the trade window the moment you press Accept.
