Overview

“The Hongliang are kite dragons, they are exceptionally fast and agile in the air. They live on the highest peaks of the mountains, where they take advantage of the air currents to glide and soar through the skies. These dragons can be seen once a year, specifically on New Year's, on these dates they can be seen soaring into the sky showing off their beautiful wings painted with striking patterns and performing beautiful dances in the sky.”

Mutations

The five possible mutations for this species are as follows

Patch history

Modeled by ThunderBoo666. The Hongliang was based mainly off of kites. The Hongliang's name may be a combination of Chinese 紅 (hóng), meaning "red", and 亮 (liàng), meaning "bright" or "light." The Hongliang's original name was Dongfeng, being a portmanteau of the Chinese 東 (dōng), meaning "East", and 風 (fēng), meaning "wind." It was the 100th dragon species to be released. The Hongliang is tied with the Cirquemaar for having the shortest growth time out of all season dragons. The was made a breedable species with the Soul Bound mechanic on February 2nd, 2024, alongside the Avefir, Ayatrice, Cybernid, Eisendrache, Fernifex, Makoura, Noctorius, Nor'gan, Ovicirus, Paukiki, Skelltor, Skriffei, Skyrix, Tarotta, Varana, Vulpiruth, and the Yulereinn in Wave 1. The Hongliang is the only legacy season dragon to not reappear in a Legacy Dragon Season through the Dragon Pass a year after its original debut. Instead, it was reintroduced in the Lunar New Year Event 2025 and was instead replaced by the New Year Theme plot in Legacy Dragon Season 41. The Veidreki also did not return through the Dragon Pass after its initial release, however it was not decided for season dragons to return until midway through Legacy Dragon Season 13, which would have been the Dragon Season that it returned in.
