While reeling it in, the player is inflicted with a -70% progress speed decrease. When hooked, an exclamation icon will pop above the player's head, and a bell sound is played - as with all Legendary fish.

If a Midnight Axolotl has a Shiny mutation on it, its design will look very similar to Discord's mascot "Wumpus". Upon clicking or interacting while holding the Shiny Midnight Axolotl, it will play the default Discord notification sound, at a random pitch. Despite weighing less than 10kg, it has a progress speed decrease as high as the Collosal Squid.
