The value formula
A fish's sale price is its base C$/kg value × its weight × any mutation multiplier. That's why one big mutated catch outsells a whole session of small fry — every term multiplies. Base values and known mutation multipliers live on each fish's page in our database; mutation multipliers alone range from mild bumps to jackpot-tier.
Where to sell
Fish merchants buy your catch at the values above. The habit that matters isn't where you sell — it's checking before you sell: rare species, heavy rolls and mutated catches are frequently worth more to keep for bestiary progress or trading flexes than their one-time C$ payout. Sell the volume, evaluate the outliers.
The appraiser gamble
The appraiser rerolls a fish's mutation for a fee. That makes it a slot machine with known odds: cheap on low-value fish, meaningful on heavyweights. The rational plays are the extremes — appraise heavy, unmutated catches of valuable species (big upside, the weight term is already locked in), skip appraising anything light (the multiplier has nothing to multiply). Turning a trophy-weight catch into a mutated trophy-weight catch is the single biggest jackpot in the game.
