Fish of Fortune: Grants a chance to recover an egg when hatching. Can be different colors

Appearance

The Koi resembles its real-life counterpart, having a primarily white body and black and orange spots in its normal color variant. It has a pink mouth and catfish-like whiskers.

Trait

Fish of Fortune: When hatching eggs there is a 1.20-10% chance to get the egg back! Cannot recover Premium/Exotic/Rainbow Eggs. This bonus is capped at 50% per egg hatched. Upon successful activation, the egg is not refunded to the inventory but instead placed back in the place it was hatched from.

Patch history

The Koi, Mochi Mouse, Iguana, Chubby Chipmunk and Sea Anemone pets are currently the only pets that can have different colors, making them the most vibrant pets in the game. The Koi's ability description in the shop used to be different, and it was said to increase egg hatch luck instead of having a chance to refund an egg. However, in the player's inventory, it would have the same ability as it does now. The Koi's value used to be bugged, showing as 0 Sheckle when asking Raphael. On July 26, 2025, 7 hours before Update 1.16.0, the Koi received a massive buff in which the pet's recovery rates of an egg more than quadrupled (~0.7% --> ~3.2%). Koi variants will sometimes mix up, making it look like an entirely new variant. This is the first fish-type pet in the game. The second is the Salmon. A useful way of using The Koi is using the player's Ruby Squid to repeatedly copy The Koi's passive. On January 8, 2026, Koi received big adjustments from 3.20-8% ---> 1.20-16%. As of the current version, Koi's ability is capped at 10% (previously 16%).
