Description

The Golden Demoman is a splash damage tower that is an upgraded version of the Demoman, obtained from the Golden Crate for 50,000 Coins, if you own the Demoman. It can also appear in the Daily Skin Store for 55,000 Coins. At Levels 0-2, the Golden Demoman takes one second to aim at an enemy before throwing its explosive grenades. This only affects the damage for the first throw, as it means the Golden Demoman has to wait 0.8 seconds before throwing it. While it is aiming, it will focus on one enemy until it throws its explosive grenade, after which it can target a different one. If the targeted enemy dies, the Golden Demoman will continue targeting it, though its grenade will not land where it died, it will throw it further away, which is generally the area where the enemy would have travelled to if it did not die. The Golden Demoman will also continue to aim at that enemy even if it leaves its range, allowing it to attack outside of its range. After the first throw, while the Golden Demoman still aims, this does not affect its firerate. The explosion caused by the Golden Demoman deals the same damage to every enemy hit as it has no damage drop-off. The Golden Demoman can also damage Lead enemies. The Golden Demoman is great for large hordes of non-boss enemies, except for those immune to splash damage. It is relatively weak against major bosses, though it can be useful in tackling the enemies that spawn from some major bosses.

Patch history

The Golden Demoman is the first new golden tower in almost 6 years, with the Golden Soldier from Overhaul v1.0 being the most recent beforehand. The Golden Demoman's Level 3 upgrade name, Loose Cannon, may be a reference to the Team Fortress 2 weapon of the same name. The Golden Demoman's Level 4 upgrade name, A Thousand Exploding Suns, may be a reference to the Sentry from Marvel, who is described as having the power of a thousand exploding suns.
