Description
The Golden Soldier is a ground tower that fires in bursts. It is an upgraded version of the Soldier, obtained from the Golden Crate for 50,000 Coins, if you own the Soldier. It can also appear in the Daily Skin Store for 50,000 Coins. The Golden Soldier fires in bursts, with a short delay between each burst, though in Level 3 and 4, it will no longer fire in bursts and will instead auto fire like the Militant. It is a fairly cheap tower, so it can be used effectively in earlier waves. It gains flying detection at Level 0 and hidden detection at Level 2, so it is an effective counter against hidden and flying enemies. In comparison to its normal counterpart, the Soldier, the Golden Soldier has flying detection immediately, more range, more damage, a higher burst, and a faster firerate on most Levels, but it is more expensive to place down and upgrade. Due to its cheap cost and efficient stats, it is considered an early to mid-game and late-game tower. Later on during the game, the Golden Soldier's effectiveness dwindles against high health enemies and is outclassed by other, stronger, towers. Despite this, it still acts as an effective anti-air option, as well as dealing with hordes of weaker enemies relatively quickly.

Strategy
The Golden Soldier is an effective early game tower at Level 2, having high DPS and hidden detection for a cheap price. In the mid game, you can get multiple Level 3-4 Golden Soldiers, as they can effectively kill most enemies that appear there, such as the Dark Necromancer and Slow Boss. It should not be relied on in the late game if you have better towers like the Turret or Ranger. It can, however, be used as a secondary DPS source to support your main DPS tower, depending on your loadout. The Golden Soldier is able to change targets between bursts if another enemy enters its range. This avoids the need to swap targets from time to time. The Golden Soldier's firerate can be boosted by the Commander, but not its cooldown. The Golden Soldier's flying detection allows it to effectively deal with flying enemies, like Balloons and Balloon Kids. You may want several Level 4 Golden Soldiers to deal with the Balloon Kid due to their high health.

Trivia
The former Level 4 firerate without the Firerate Bug (0.076) and the Level 4 upgrade cost were references to Soldier: 76 from Overwatch. The Level 4 upgrade name, "Maximum Potential", appears to be a reference to the Potential Man meme commonly tied to the Golden Soldier in the community.
