Description

The Militant, formerly known as John, is an intermediate tower that costs 800 Coins to buy from the store, but can also be obtained by purchasing the Starter Bundle. It could also be obtained by a now expired code. The Militant begins with low damage but it is supported by a fast firerate. It has long range, allowing it to cover large amounts of the track. Through upgrades its DPS, firerate, range increase greatly, but these upgrades are costly. The Militant is considered an early to mid-game tower.

Strategy

The Militant's high DPS and low cost make it very viable to use early on during the game. It can also be very useful mid-game and in some weaker modes, late-game. Early on, you can place multiple Level 1 Militants, due to their high DPS, high range, flying detection and hidden detection. Later on during the game, they should be upgraded to Level 3 or 4. Later on during the game, the Commander can be very useful at increasing its DPS, making it quite useful late-game. The Militant can be quite effective against hidden enemies like the Hidden Boss due to its cheap Hidden detection and decent DPS. Because the Militant gains flying detection at Level 1, it can be used in Hardcore to kill early-game Balloons or, if enough are placed down, deal with Flying enemies that appear in mid to late-game waves of Fallen and Pizza Party modes. You will need multiple Level 3-4 Militants to deal with the late-game Fallen and Pizza Party enemies due to their high health.

Patch history

When John was first added to the game, its upgrade stats were not displayed on its upgrade description. It was simply referred to as "swager21". It was the only tower that did not include the word "sans" in its upgrade description at the time of its release. This tower used to be redeemable with the now expired code: J0HNRBX. The Militant (when it was originally called John) had an ability called Gorilla Sounds which increased the damage of most towers within its range by 30%. This lasted 10 seconds and had a 30 second cooldown. During Hardcore Testing BETA, this ability was renamed to Enraging Shout. This ability could not increase the damage of the following towers: Any projectile-based towers: the Mortar, Rocketeer, Demoman, Freezer (splash damage only; its direct, non-explosive, damage can be increased), Paintballer and Holiday Archer. The Ace Pilot bombs, Commando missiles or Pursuit missiles, as they all count as projectiles. The Shredder when its Knife Throw ability was activated, as the knives it threw counted as a projectile. The Pyromancer's burn damage or the Swarmer's bee damage. The Pyromancer's normal damage could still be increased. The Enforcer. All units. This tower was originally dedicated to YouTuber JOHN ROBLOX. Before the addition of this tower, the Paintballer was considered John's tower. The Enraging Shout ability was based on various noises that he would make in his videos. The now removed Enraging Shout ability would play various sound effects, with some skins having their own specific sound effects.
