Chef Recipe Book

Items99 Nights in the Forest

How to get it

Scavenge it from the forest, loot cultist camps, or craft it at camp.

Overview

The Recipe Book is a special item given to the Player at the beginning of every game, only obtainable through the Chef class. To pin it on your screen, simply equip it and click anywhere; it will disappear from your inventory then reappear as a button on the top right corner of your screen, similar to the Map -- except it does not require a fire to work.

Usage

The Recipe Book assists players with the Chef class to make special dishes on the Chef's pot using the recipes shown in the book, each with different bonuses (and all are seasoned), however majority of them revolve around hunger and are similar to Stews but are better options. There are currently 6 total recipes in-game: Seafood Chowder, Steak Dinner, Pumpkin Soup, BBQ Ribs, Carrot Cake, and Jar O' Jelly. The first four are unlocked immediately upon purchasing the Chef, but the Carrot Cake is unlocked when achieving Chef Level 2, then Jar O' Jelly being Level 3. If the Carrot Cake or Jar O' Jelly are not unlocked yet, they will appear in the Recipe Book with a transparent gray box over them. You will still be able to see the recipe, but it won't cook the particular dish on the Chef's pot -- instead creating a Stew. Every recipe excluding the Carrot Cake simply requires 1 main component (shown in the book as the first ingredient for each recipe) to turn it into a specific dish -- then 2 other random pieces of food to start the cooking. The Carrot Cake requires a slice of cake and 2 carrots to successfully make it. If 3 pieces of food are placed into the Chef's pot (example: 3 Morsels) without being a main component for any recipe, it will simply cook a normal Stew. If a Steak and 1 or 2 other main ingredients are concurrently placed in the pot, the Steak will always be the first priority for the cooking -- making a Steak Dinner.
