The name comes from Japanese "Mosura" (モスラ), which stems from English "Mothra", the name of the moth kaiju from the Godzilla franchise whose name means "giver of life" from the fictional Indonesian tribe that worship her in the MonsterVerse continuity, and aki (秋), meaning "autumn" or "fall" in Japanese. The was based off of maple leaves, moths, and campfire vibes and coziness. The was originally conceptualized as a bird-like dragon, as said by FerkkoBun. Its design was later revamped to become more rodent and moth-like by TIPE_NAME, with its face, horns, and patterns being changed the most drastically. Fangs were given to it as well as they gave off "small rodent/hyrax" vibes to FerkkoBun. Each of the 's presets are mostly based off of species of moths. The Autumn (default) preset is likely a nod to its name meaning and its overall theme. The Hummingbird preset may be based off of hummingbird hawk-moths, possibly representing the hummingbird clearwing (Hemaris thysbe) in particular. The Silk preset is likely based off of silkworm moths. The Snow preset may have been inspired by the snowy geometer moth or various other species of white moths. The House preset was based off the common house moth. The Maple preset was based off of the rosy maple moth. The 's Dragonpedia entry was tweaked around the date of November 22nd, 2024. The was made a breedable species with the Soul Bound mechanic on January 16th, 2026, alongside the Aethereus, Caelydris, Calimaki, Carnealgon, Caudembris, Gyngefared, Nightmare Paranox, and the Phyllantis in Wave 8.
