Elder Mossjaw is a Secret fish found in Elder Mossjaw Hunts.
The Elder Mossjaw is a fish obtainable in an abundance located to the gate behind the center of the temple in Lost Jungle during an Elder Mossjaw hunt. Due to its high rarity, it makes for a challenging catch, moving erratically across the fishing bar (regardless of any fishing rod and/or bait, except Cinder Block Rod). When reeling it in, -85% Locked Progress Speed is inflicted. When hooked, a will pop above the player's head, and a shimmering sound is played - as with all Secret fish. The Elder Mossjaw Hunt has a 10% chance to replace a Mossjaw Hunt, making this effectively have a 2.5% chance to spawn every 10 minutes.

Appearance
The Elder Mossjaw is a recolor of the normal, keeping the same big reptile appearance but with skin the color of a dark shade of mint green. It keeps the same 4 legs, tail, horn on its head, and rows of serrated teeth.

When catching the Elder Mossjaw for the first time, you will obtain the Mossy Core.

Ability
The Elder Mossjaw has a unique ability, where every frame has a 18% chance to activate it, decreasing by 1.8% per activation to 9% per frame. When activated: 4% progress is lost. Bar stops responding for 1.8 seconds. A 3 second cooldown is in place after it starts.

The Elder Mossjaw, like the Mossjaw, could be based on the real-life species, the Varanus komodoensis, or simply the Komodo Dragon species, since they share similar traits, such as being large reptiles, a dense cover of scales on their entire body, and layers of the same serrated teeth. The Elder Mossjaw is one the crafting requirements for the Elder Mossripper rod. There is a bug with the Elder Mossjaw that makes the player's avatar immobile, unable to move, and being stuck in the air. It can glitch due to a certain amount of weight (2.5 million or more.) This might be an intended feature or an unfixed bug.
