Mythology

The son of Theseus (of the ship of Theseus) and Phaedra was Demophon of Athens. Demophon of Athens was one of the men inside the Trojan Horse, storming the city of Troy. After the war, he fell in love with a woman named Phyllis, the daughter of another king. After their wedding, he told her that he must leave, promising to return and bring Phyllis with him. She sent with him a casket, telling him not to open it unless he lost hope of returning to her. Phyllis waited for years and years, eventually dying. Versions of the story tend to branch at this point. The original says that Demophon opened the casket out of curiosity, being shocked so badly by its contents that he ran away on his horse until he fell off and onto his sword, killing him. Other versions state that he returned to find Phyllis already dead, finding her in the form of an almond tree that bloomed at his touch. Demophon of Eleusis, despite sharing a name, has a radically different story. While the goddess Demeter searched for her daughter Persephone, she found Celeus, the king of Eleusis, and Demophon's father. He offered her hospitality, and in return was asked to nurse Demophon. As a show of thanks for his hospitality, Demeter began a ritual to make Demophon a god. Without telling his parents, she put him into a fire to begin a ritual that was soon interrupted by his mother, Metanira. In anger, Demeter cancelled the ritual. Versions of the story tend to branch at this point.

Patch history

Talking to for the first time awards the Fun Achievement "A Captain and his Ship". There is currently no reward for this Achievement. 's "tale" is a reference to the famous Ship of Theseus thought experiment/paradox. Since was an addition during the Noli Update, it is safe to assume that it is also somehow connected to Shakespeare's The Tempest, a play which is referenced symbolically by Noli. It's also possible that is talking about The Spectre, Evidence being The Spectre's description on Roblox being: "A boat built with stolen pieces." Red Herring, another fish in the Lobby, references another logical fallacy similar to the Ship of Theseus, the Red Herring. It is currently unclear whether is a fish that already exists in FORSAKEN's Lobby world or if The Spectre has actually FORSAKEN a fish.
