Grow a Garden Mutations: Weight, Variants, Stacking and Fusion

Updated Oct 11, 2026

Estimate a fruit's sale value from weight and classic variants, then count environmental effects without multiplying them or double-counting fusions.

A fruit's sale value depends on which crop it is, how heavy that fruit is, one growth variant, and the environmental mutations still on it. Those parts do not all stack the same way. A Gold fruit with Shocked and Frozen is valuable, but multiplying 20 × 100 × 10 gives the wrong answer. Use the current mutation list on the fruit, then work through the calculation below before deciding whether to harvest or trade it. The Grow a Garden community wiki's mutation reference records the variant and environmental rules.

What changes a fruit's value

NameHow to treat itExample
Crop base valueThe unmutated value at its reference weightCheck the crop's own page and current in-game sell display
WeightSquare the actual-to-reference weight ratio, with a 0.95 floorA fruit at twice its reference weight gets a ×4 weight factor
Growth variantChoose one applicable variant multiplierNormal ×1, Silver ×5, Gold ×20 or Rainbow ×50 in the classic set
Environmental mutationsAdd the extra amount above ×1 for each effect still presentShocked ×100 plus Frozen ×10 produces ×109, not ×1,000

The wiki's Mechanics page gives the price formula. Its crop data module publishes average weight and value and identifies a floor at 95% of average weight. The named variants and effects available in the live game can change after updates, so this is a way to reason about a fruit, not a guaranteed cash-out quote.

Calculate weight before mutations

Start with the crop's reference value and reference weight. Divide the fruit's displayed weight by that reference weight, square the ratio, then multiply by the reference value. The reference values on Bloxism come from the wiki's crop data. For example, a fruit weighing twice its reference weight gets 2² = ×4 from weight alone. A fruit at half its reference weight does not fall to one quarter of the reference value: the wiki's crop module gives a price-floor weight at 0.95 of average, so use 0.95² = 0.9025 as the lowest weight factor in this model.

If a crop page lacks a verified reference weight, Bloxism's calculator cannot compute a weight adjustment for it. In that case its result is a simple base-and-mutation estimate; inspect the in-game sale display for the actual fruit. Weight can vary between fruits from the same plant, so enter the weight of the fruit you are evaluating rather than the plant's size or another harvest's weight.

Pick one growth variant

For the classic growth variants, Normal is ×1, Silver ×5, Gold ×20, and Rainbow ×50, according to the wiki's Mechanics and Crop Mutations pages. These are alternatives in the calculation; a Gold fruit is not also multiplied by Silver or Rainbow. The mutation reference also records later variants and new application methods. If the fruit shows a variant outside Bloxism's picker, use its current wiki or in-game description rather than choosing a visually similar button.

A pet or tool that can apply a variant may replace something already on a fruit. The Butterfly entry, for example, says its Rainbow conversion removes prior environmental mutations. Do not calculate the value of a hypothetical Rainbow fruit by keeping effects the conversion would erase.

Add environmental effects, don't multiply them together

The wiki models environmental stacking as 1 + the sum of (each effect's multiplier − 1). Shocked ×100 contributes 99 above baseline; Frozen ×10 contributes 9. Together they yield 1 + 99 + 9 = ×109. A Gold fruit with those two effects has a combined variant-and-environmental factor of 20 × 109 = ×2,180 before its weight factor. A Rainbow fruit with the same effects would be 50 × 109 = ×5,450, not 50 × 100 × 10. These worked values match the mutation reference's examples.

For any additional effect, add only its excess above ×1. If the fruit shows a separate ×2 effect alongside Shocked and Frozen, the environmental factor becomes 1 + 99 + 9 + 1 = ×110. You must check that all three names are still present on the fruit; a fusion can remove its ingredients.

Resolve fusions and replacements first

Wet ×2 plus Chilled ×2 becomes Frozen ×10. Frozen removes Wet and Chilled; the current wiki mutation rules say the old effects do not remain as extra multipliers. The correct environmental factor for a fruit showing Frozen alone is ×10, not 1 + (2 − 1) + (2 − 1) + (10 − 1) = ×12. If Shocked also remains, use ×109. Other fusions, such as Clay or Ceramic, can replace ingredients too. Read the fruit's current effects after an application instead of totaling every effect it has ever had.

The order matters when planning a chain. An effect can replace a precursor or prevent a later combination. A calculator that lets you tick mutually exclusive names does not prove the game can create that fruit. Bloxism's common-effect picker resolves Wet plus Chilled to Frozen and keeps only the resulting name; use the wiki's full mutation page for effects outside that short list.

Use the calculator as a check

Open the Grow a Garden crop calculator, pick the crop, enter the fruit's weight, select the growth variant, then select the environmental effects that are currently visible. The result is an estimate from recorded crop data and the documented formula. Use it to compare scenarios: how much does a heavier fruit matter, or what does a valid extra mutation add? It does not read your inventory, predict which weather will occur, or include every special event effect.

Before selling or trading, compare the estimate with the game's own sale preview and the exact fruit shown in your inventory. A mutation value is a sale multiplier; another player's trade offer also depends on demand, rarity and what they will exchange. The crop catalog is useful for checking recorded base values, and the game forum is the place to discuss a named offer with other players.
