Overview
The Campfire is the primary focus of the game. At night it acts as a vital line of defense, keeping threats like The Deer or the monsters away. As you upgrade the Campfire, it expands both the overall map size and the safe zone near the fire, making fire upgrades essential for both survival and game progression.
How to use
The Campfire is a constantly depleting fire that provides a safe zone for players by scaring off The Deer, Ram, Owl, and any wild animals chasing you (although if you attack animals while in the safe zone, they will enter the camp to attack you back). Note that Cultists can always enter the campsite. Being near the fire increases players' health regeneration, increases their visibility, and negates the freezing debuff from snow / blizzard events. The fire can be used to cook raw food and recharge Flashlights. The campfire will level up when enough fuel is added (Logs, Coals, Fuel Canisters, etc), from level 1 to Level 6.
Tips & tricks
• If your fire goes out during the day, start collecting fuel but don't add it until night time. In fact, don't add it until the Deer spawns and is rushing into the campsite. This will minimize the amount of fuel lost to fire depletion. • After fueling the campfire up to Level 4 you should stop using logs on it, due to their small effect on the campfire (less than 1% per log). At this point logs are better put into the grinder to craft useful items. • If your campfire goes out at night it is recommended to find a safe spot to wait out the night, there are several listed on The Deer page. • Building an Oil Drill is useful for getting the Campfire to Level 6.
How to get it
Scavenge it from the forest, loot cultist camps, or craft it at camp.
