Overview[1]
The Raygun is a Ranged Weapon in 99 Nights in the Forest. 15 (head-shot); by locations: •Broken UFOs •Mothership UFOs; by chests: Alien Chest; by classes: Alien Class
The Raygun fires hit-scan projectiles, dealing damage to Entities. Unlike other ranged weapons, the Raygun uses Alien Tech Energy, a bar in the middle/bottom left corner of the screen (near the Hunger Bar). Firing the Raygun depletes a small amount of Alien Tech Energy (10%~), which will regenerate over time. This mechanic is shared with the Laser Cannon, the Alien Armor and Laser Sword. If the Alien Tech Energy reaches 0, the Raygun will "overheat", becoming unusable for a short period of time whilst the Alien Tech Energy bar regenerates. With its consistent recharge while shooting, you can shoot a total of 13 shots with the last shot triggering overheating when shooting at its max possible fire rate or at least close to it. Do note that if you let the Raygun overheat, it recharges fully in about 9.5 seconds, while if you almost fully overheat it, it takes about 12 seconds as classless and about 10 seconds as the Alien Class. (keynote: The Alien Class does not affect the standard overheat, and it remains the same (9.5 seconds). It only affects the maximum overheat state.)
How to get it
Scavenge it from the forest, loot cultist camps, or craft it at camp.

Obtainment
The Raygun has a chance of appearing in a Broken UFO. If it does not spawn, it is found within the ship's interior. Additionally, players who have the Alien Class equipped will spawn with one at the start of the game.
Appearance
The Raygun is a small, pink-colored blaster pistol with a black stock, brown rings across its barrel with a grey muzzle, and a green bar along its side to represent the amount of charge.
Tips
It is recommended to use the Raygun in the Cultist Stronghold, as its infinite ammo means it can be used whilst hiding to avoid taking damage. The alien class at level 2 recharges the Raygun at an increased rate, therefore increasing damage output Note that draining all charge will result in it taking 9.5 seconds to recharge, regardless of class, but the time it takes for a level 2 alien to recharge the alien tech is almost the same as with the overheating bonus, so it is advised to not let it overheat as it reduces the Alien Class' sprinting speed until the Alien Tech Energy refills. The Raygun shares its Alien Tech Energy bar with the Laser Sword and the Laser Cannon. Similar to the Revolver, the Raygun can also be used for engaging strong Entities in order to line up headshots for stronger weapons while conserving ammo. You can use the Raygun when waiting at the Campfire to damage Entities like Bunnies to get a bit of food for later, while staying safe from The Deer.
Strategy
The Raygun, due to its High DPS, along with the Alien Class, and high fire rate, and infinite ammo is considered by some players one of the best Weapons in the game. Category:Weapons Category:Ranged Weapons Category:Items Category:Alien Items
