Adopt Me Pet Ages, Age-Up Potions and Pet Pens

The six regular ages

The Adopt Me Wiki's pet reference lists the normal order and the default trick learned at each stage:

Higher-rarity pets need more completed needs to reach the next stage. A Neon pet has its own age names, and four fully aged pets of the same species are required to make a Neon. Check the pet's in-game age bar before using a potion so the 30-task boost is spent where it helps most.

Active care, potions and Pet Pens

Complete the needs shown for the pet you have equipped: feeding, rest, bathing and activities award progress when that pet needs them. Completing one pet's need does not satisfy the needs of every pet standing nearby. Adopt Me's Pet Handler Pro Certificate note describes a separately equipped second pet; it does not turn all pets in the area into one shared task queue.

An Age-Up Potion gives 30 tasks of age progress. The potion reference says it cannot be used on an Egg or a Full Grown pet, and that the potion itself is not tradable. Event rewards and lures may provide potions, but the reliable repeatable route is the Friendship Bar on a fully aged pet.

Adopt Me's Pet Pen update notes say a Pen can passively age up to four pets while you play or while you are offline. It stops each pet at the next completed age stage until you visit to keep it growing, and it does not earn Friendship levels. The published online and offline rates date from the September 2025 update; check the current in-game Pen for any later balance change.

Friendship after Full Grown

Once a pet reaches Full Grown, completing its needs fills a Friendship Bar instead of another age. The developer's Friendship update says each level takes 30 completed needs and awards one Age-Up Potion. Levels have no stated cap. The same update warns that Friendship levels disappear when the pet is traded, even if it is later traded back. When pets combine into a Neon or Mega Neon, completed Friendship levels combine; progress partway through a level does not.

This gives a useful routine if you are building a Neon: keep your preferred Full Grown pet active for potions and place other eligible pets in the Pen, then return when a Pen pet reaches its next stage. An advertised two-times aging event can change the pace while it is live, but do not assume that every weekend has one.
