Summoning

To summon the Soul Reaper, the player needs to place the Hallow Essence on the altar with blue flames right next to the graveyard at the Haunted Castle. Walking up onto the altar while the Hallow Essence is in the player's inventory will summon the Soul Reaper. Strangely enough, the Soul Reaper does not spawn where its summoning item is used. Instead, it spawns in a room of the Haunted Castle, through a backdoor.

Tips & Strategies

It is recommended to use high-damage fruits like Gravity, Dragon, Venom, Magma, Spider, Awakened Dough, Spirit, Buddha, Blizzard, T-Rex, or Kitsune to defeat Soul Reaper. Soul Reaper has low cooldowns on all of his moves, so the player should be careful when trying to fight him in close-range, because his moves are strong when close enough. Buddha is one of the best choices against the Soul Reaper but is punishable due to the larger player hitbox. The Soul Reaper tends to use Death Cyclone when the player keeps a decent distance from him, so they can try to use Instinct to counter it. If the player's health is 50% or lower, it is recommended to use long-range attacks against him so that he cannot spam Soul Execution - The player does not worry about that if they using Buddha, though. Having Angel (with at least V3) or Lei can be a good way to heal mid-fight, or the player can just get out of the room where this boss is fought if needed.

Trivia

The Soul Reaper is the second Raid Boss to give Mastery instead of Levels with the first being the Cursed Captain. As with all Raid Bosses, the player needs to have done at least 10% damage to the Soul Reaper in order to get rewarded. The Soul Reaper is a part of the quest for the Cursed Dual Katana, to view the puzzle for Cursed Dual Katana click here. The Soul Reaper will despawn after a certain amount of time, like most other raid bosses. The Soul Reaper, along with the Cake Queen, drops the highest amount of Mastery in the game. Due to the aggro nature of the boss, it is very hard to view the outfit efficiently. With the Disguise Elixir however, the user can see the entire avatar in good lightning, sans the fire and black effects.
