Overview[1]
Phantom Megalodon is a Limited catch in Fisch, found around Ancient Isle — sells for about 1 C$ per kg.
The Phantom Megalodon is a Limited fish with a high rarity and a very challenging catch, as it inflicts a -85% progress speed decrease on the player when reeling in the fish. When hooked, a will pop above the player's head, and a bell sound is played - as with all Limited fish. Alongside this, the Phantom Megalodon plays a unique catch cutscene as with other Megalodons.

Phantom Megalodon Hunt Announcement Message
There has been a Phantom Megalodon spotted past Ancient Isle! [Be the first and only to catch it!]
Obtainment
The Phantom Megalodon can be caught behind Ancient Isle. It can only be spawned on a real life weekend, if a Megalodon Hunt occurs at the same time as an Eclipse, or on the night after with a Megalodon Hunt. Unlike the Megalodon or Ancient Megalodon which can be spawned anytime. This makes the Phantom Megalodon a Limited. The event is very similar to a Shark Hunt Event, as only 1 player can catch the Megalodon, before it is gone. (More than one can be caught however if it hooks onto other player's lines before anyone reels it in.) The Phantom Megalodon is spawnable starting at 1 AM EST or 6 AM UTC. Fisch uses UTC for the time. You can use an Eclipse Totem before using a Sundial Totem to make it night, it still can summon phantom megalodon as normal (might be a bug). The Phantom Megalodon despawns in 12 minutes and 30 seconds if it is not caught. This variation of the Megalodon is significantly rarer than it's counterparts (due to how expensive it is to spawn and the sheer rarity of it even spawning naturally.) Since Megalodons were updated to have a minimum weight of 50,000 Kg, now rods with a max weight of 50,000 Kg or over are needed. Such as (the following rods are listed from easiest to hardest to obtain): Steady Rod, Reinforced Rod and Brick Rod, just to name a few. Most rods afterwards have weight limits higher than 50,000 Kg. Once the player has successfully caught the Phantom Megalodon, this cut-scene will play
Ability
18% chance every frame to go on a "rampage", with the chance decreasing by 1.8% every attack until it reaches 9%. Reduces 40% of the current reeling progress, and shrinks the by 25% for 2 seconds.
Tips
NOTE: It has to be day for this to work and if the method did not work, use a Sundial to turn it to day then repeat the method. Use a Sundial Totem then a Eclipse Totem. If it didn't spawn, repeat the process. A Phantom Megaladon Hunt does not guarantee a Phantom Megalodon, but gives a chance to catch it. (Which is lower than the chance of catching other versions of the Megalodon. Spawning a Phantom Megalodon is often a very time consuming and expensive process. Often taking millions of.
Notes
Phantom Megalodon cannot be caught with passive effects, such as the one provided by the Rod Of The Depths, Rod of The Eternal King and Rod of The Forgotten Fang. Phantom Megalodon is not required to complete the Ancient Isle bestiary, as it is a Limited, and limited fish are not required for the bestiary. Megalodons were updated to have a minimum weight of 50,000kg when trying to catch it.

What does this mean?
Fisch's in-game currency. A fish's value is its documented average sell price in C$ — what it sells for at its average weight. A rod's value is its documented shop cost. Both are in-game facts from the community wiki, not a trading consensus. Values are not comparable across games.

Patch history
Many people had seen a Phantom Megalodon be caught outside of weekends but is unknown on how it was happening (this has since been patched). Catching a Phantom Megalodon will grant the player the title. Catching 3 Phantom Megalodons will grant the player the title There was a bug where if you caught three Ancient Megalodons you would receive both titles “Ancient’s Chosen One” AND “Deep Sea Phenomenon” even if you didn’t catch three Phantom Megalodons. The Phantom Megalodon used to be unobtainable due to an unknown bug (this has since been patched). The Phantom Megalodon's rarity was increased in 1.08.0 from Exotic to Limited, When it was still Exotic, a popped above the player's head when hooked, and a shimmering sound would play - as with all Exotic fish. The Phantom Megalodon can now be caught in the SHARKKSSSSS and SUNKEN SEAS STORM Admin Events.
