Summary

The Shiv is a starting weapon that is automatically unlocked when the user joins the game. Its appearance consists of a sharp, dark blade, with tape wrapped around where the handle would be. This weapon is favored among the community due to its ease of use and accessibility, and can be frequently seen amongst newer players. Its fast swiping speed, minimal stamina cost, and respectable damage allow a user to be mobile while still remaining effective. Players with slow weapons like the Shovel and Fire Axe will have trouble. The Shiv, however, has its own set of problems, that being a lack of a blocking ability and the short range of the weapon, which could make one vulnerable when going up against players with longer-ranged melee weapons such as the Bat. Once you level up, the option to purchase the Balisong will open up, and it's recommended to purchase that instead of the shiv, as the price makes up for its insane attack speed and cooldown, as the weapon is basically a major upgrade to the shiv.

Patch history

The Shiv and Beretta were both temporarily default starting items (just like the Fists) in V1.0.4 (October 27th, 2020), this change was subsequently reverted in the following update V1.0.4-B (October 27th, 2020). Category:Melees
