Overview[1]
The Beretta is a starter burst pistol that automatically unlocks when the user joins the game. The Beretta was released on October 17th, 2020, as a part of the v1.0.0 pre-beta release of Criminality. With it easily being the most common and cheapest pistol, it's also widely considered one of the weakest yet underrated. Its instability as a long-range firearm leaves much to be desired. It is only generally used as a last resort option if nothing else is available or you need a cheap but reliable weapon. Although its humble stats limit it to Close-Quarters-Combat[CQC], it can hold its weight to a higher-tier gun if the situation presents itself. Its burst function, while not very controllable at medium-long ranges, can be used to shred through unarmored players at close range.

Usage & Tactics
The Beretta is far from a versatile weapon but can dominate CQC. Its high fire-rate burst mode allows players to deliver significant damage quickly, like a shotgun. However, players should refrain from spraying at range, as the burst can be inaccurate and difficult to manage outside of CQC. Utilizing the power slide mechanic alongside strafing further boosts the Beretta's CQC capabilities. However, the Beretta has limitations, particularly regarding its restrictive magazine size and low single-shot damage; even in CQC, it'll take 8-5 shots to down an unarmored player, meaning players must fire quickly and precisely to avoid running out of ammunition. Inexperienced players may find the weapon challenging to use because of this. Nonetheless, the recoil and stability of the gun are easily manageable in close quarters with light practice, making it a reliable option for players seeking to engage in close-range combat. A good example of using the Beretta is if it's paired with a weapon like the Shovel or Golf Club, because of their ability to concuss an enemy for quite a long time. This gives you an opportunity to mag-dump your opponent's body.
Pros & Cons
Cheap. Good iron sights. Fast reload. Generous stock. Very low recoil. Short burst cooldown. High fire-rate. Can be found in Scrap Piles. Has Limited Skin with slightly faster burst cooldown. Ineffective at long ranges. Low damage. Low magazine capacity and reserve ammo. Poor armor penetration. Low hip-fire accuracy.

The Shiv and Beretta were both temporarily default starting items (just like the Fists) in V1.0.4 (October 27th, 2020), this change was subsequently reverted in the following update V1.0.4-B (October 27, 2020). This weapon's appearance and name is inspired from its real-world counterpart, the Beretta 93R' The new model now looks more like a Beretta 92/M9, but the gun still functions like a 93R.
