Overview[1]
Vertigo, also known as The Abyss, is an underground location accessible via any Strange Whirlpool found in the Ocean. It is not located on the map, but is in a distinct area outside.
Vertigo, also known as The Great Abyss, is a cave only enterable through a Strange Whirlpool. It can be exited by dying, leaving the game or using a Conception Conch. Upon entering, the player is met with a dark cave with its only light sources being the glowing crystals on its walls. The structure of the cave itself is very steep. Near the spawn point for Vertigo, there is a small stall where Synth resides. Synth acts as the Merchant of Vertigo, buying fish and selling the Nocturnal Rod for 11,000C$ C$, Conception Conch for 444C$ C$ each, and the Aurora Rod for 90,000C$ C$ (During Aurora Borealis) costing 5,090,000 to buy Aurora Totem. In Vertigo, he interacts with the player, even seeming upbeat and energetic. Vertigo's Dip is the very bottom of Vertigo. It contains a shallow pool with lily pads that contain the fish. On the rock at the middle of the pool lies a Conception Conch being sold for 444C$ C$ each, making it so that The Player don't have to climb back up just to buy one. Upon unlocking and entering this gate with The Depths Key, and have completed Vertigo's bestiary, The Player will reach The Depths. The gate is surrounded with red glowing crystals. The Player can find The Keeper - who appears to be a shadowy figure with glowing eyes, sitting beside. The gate to The Depths will stay unlocked even The Player leave the game as well. The only way to enter Vertigo is through a Strange Whirlpool.

Trivia
There is a copy of Synth at Moosewood who's called Synph The Player can see this change up close. If The Player walk up to the Ghost by a Tent NPC, he will keep repeating the words "oslw tl", deciphering the code using the ROT-19 cipher will give The Player the message "help me". If The Player head to the right when entering vertigo and pass by Synth's Shop, there is a hidden passage that leads to a chasm in the ground with a giant whirlpool at the bottom. Jumping into this whirlpool awards the title. If The Player use the glider to glide over the hole with the whirlpool, The Player can reach another part of the cave. In this small part of the cave, there is a ghost called Perdido, who sits repeating the words "Grq'w vwudb wrr idu." translating to "Don't stray too far." he also comments on the fact that the player can see him, saying they have "Good faith", and calling them a "Prophet".
