Merchants, or the 'Merchant Brothers', are stationed in many areas of the map. They buy fish and sometimes sell fishing equipment. They can be spoken with to sell fish, giving the option to sell only one, or all fish in the player's inventory. Merchants cannot bulk sell fish that the player has favorited or do not have 'Auto-selling' enabled for in Settings.
The Merchant purchases fish from the player making him the main source of income throughout the game. He provides the option to either sell singular fish or your entire inventory. To prevent something from being auto sold when the option to sell your inventory is chosen, the player may favorite the specific fish or item, or turn off auto sell for the specific rarity in settings. By default, auto sell is disabled for the rarities Relic, Legendary and the above. (Mythical, Exotic, Secret, and Apex). (The player may turn on auto sell for them in the settings). All of them are part of the 'Merchant Brothers' appearing at each island looking similar but identified by their various names, starting with M. They always appear behind a table with a plethora of different fishing equipment strewn about their shop. They have different clothing depending on the island they're on but tend to have a fishing related attire. Prices may vary depending on weight, mutation and rarity.

The Merchants can be found at the following Locations: Moosewood: Inside a red shack with a cyan fish on the front, GPS: Roslit Bay: Under a small stand with a cyan fish on the front, to the left of the man hammering his boat, GPS: Snowcap Island: Inside a shack with a cyan fish sign in front, on an elevated area behind the docks, GPS: Sunstone Island: Near the small docks central to the island, GPS: Forsaken Shores: Named Cort (Mila) he is under a small shack with a yellow fish on top, unlike other merchants he is a pirate and has a companion, GPS: Vertigo: Named Synth, who can be found sitting on the right side after entering a Strange Whirlpool, GPS: The Depths: Straight forward across the water from the entrance to The Depths, he is in front of a waterfall, GPS: Ancient Isle: Located in Ancient Isle Pond, GPS: Northern Summit: Located next to the right-most yellow tents, to the right of the Arctic Rod, GPS: Atlantis: Located outside the entrance to the Sunken Trials, in a small stone building where you can buy the Depthseeker Rod along with diving gear and crab cages, GPS: Waveborne: GPS: Azure Lagoon: GPS: Emberreach: GPS: Isle of New Beginnings: GPS: Lushgrove: GPS
Trivia
The merchant in Vertigo has a name, Synth. Forsaken Shore's Merchant was renamed to Mila, possibly relating to Mila the cat. Any Merchant you sell to gives the same amount of cash as any other Merchant. Sometimes, a small text appears saying: "One of the Merchant brothers is blind".
