The Maelstrom is a Stage Fishing Rod obtained from Cryoshock Cellar.
The Maelstrom is a fishing rod that could be obtained from the Fischmas 2025 event. This rod has below-average stats for its difficulty to obtain, but highly rewarding passives. This rod resembles a bow with a star surrounding the arrow's tip. The grip equivalent and limbs of the bow range from grey-blue to periwinkle. The arrow is an ice colour with a glowing white tip.

Obtainment
The Maelstrom could be obtained during Fischmas 2025. First Step: Get yourself a Santa's Miracle Rod, Essence of Winter, Essence of Starfrost, Everfrost Key and a Festive Relic. The essences can be found in the Northstar Village, the key and the rod can be found if the player has Santa's questline finished. The Festive Relic can be bought with 2,500 bells in one of the igloos, use the Festive Relic relic on a fischmas rod to be able to fish for the Cryoshock Serpent. Second Step: Once a Frost Moon has appeared, the player needs to flick 3 levers around the map. These are located at: Upon flicking all levers, go into the hatch in the middle of the map. Input the Essence of Winter, and the Essence of Starfrost in the serpent head near the door and unlock the door with your Everfrost Key (If the serpent head rejects the essences, that means you missed a lever in step 2). Then enter the room. This will grant access to the Cryoshock Serpent. Once the serpent has been caught, the player will need to jump across ice platforms that break if you stand on them for too long. After completing the parkour, you will be able to purchase the Maelstrom Rod for 3,250,000C$ C$. Be aware that the serpent will slowly approach you, and if it reaches a certain point it will kill you. If the serpent kills you, then you have to restart from step 2.
Enchantments
For higher, since the rod is low in that stat, Divine or if you have, Immortal. Pairs well with the Peppermint secondary enchantment To use the charge meter passive easily, Controlled or if you have, Herculean. For making, Sea Overlord and Sea Prince. Note that both of these enchantments require and respectively

Maelstrom is was the first rod in the game with a design that is not a rod but rather a bow. It's was also at the time of release the second rod to be animated, second to Polaris Serenade's animated effects. At the time of release, this rod was the first rod to give the player a custom walking animation when held, walking with the body on an angle to the side.
