Quick answer

Grow a Garden 2 is a true sequel: nothing carries over, and three new systems — Nightfall stealing, the Bargain shop and guilds — change how the opening hours should be played.

Same core, one big threat

The loop is familiar — buy seeds, plant, grow (offline included), harvest, sell — but ripe crops can now be stolen after Nightfall. That one rule changes everything: unharvested crops aren't a piggy bank anymore, they're bait. Rule one of GaG2: never log out with ripe crops standing. Growing crops are safe; ripe ones are loot.

Your first hour, in order

  1. Stage 1Plant the cheapest full plot the Seed Shop offers.

  2. Stage 2While it grows, learn the Sell Shop's Bargain button

haggling beats list price and it's free money from your very first sale (full haggle guide).

  3. Stage 3Reinvest into multi-harvest crops as soon as you can afford them.

Reinvest into multi-harvest crops as soon as you can afford them.

  4. Stage 4Buy your first egg when spare cash appears

defensive pets matter here in a way GaG1 never needed (defense guide).

The night decision

When Nightfall hits (live countdown on our events page), you have three plays: harvest and bank, defend (traps + guard pets), or go robbing yourself. New players should simply harvest before dark and spend the night shopping restocks. Stealing is real and profitable, but it's a mid-game skill — you'll donate your night window to trap corridors while you're learning routes.

What to spend premium stuff on

Mega Seeds are investment vehicles — bigger base value that compounds through mutations and haggling (mutations guide). Skip cosmetic spending until your plot fills itself reliably.

GaG1 veterans: what transfers

Your instincts about restock-watching, sprinklers-first and multi-harvest economics all still apply. What doesn't: idle hoarding. GaG2 taxes AFK wealth through theft — the sequel rewards showing up at Nightfall.
