Description

The Cryomancer is an exclusive support tower which attacks enemies with a frost beam. It could have been obtained by triumphing Krampus Frosthold. It could have also been obtained via a gamepass for 500 Robux during the Krampus' Revenge Event. Most recently, the Cryomancer was put on sale in December of 2024, costing 699 Robux to purchase. The Cryomancer fires a frost beam which applies the chillness slowness effect to enemies every hit, which stacks up to its maximum slowdown. This beam can only hit three enemies every tick at Level 0–3, increasing to six at Level 4. At Level 4, when the enemy's slowdown is higher than max slowdown, the enemy will freeze. Larger enemies will be frozen for a shorter amount of time than average sized enemies. Enemies with Freeze Immunity also cannot be frozen or slowed down. It also has a limited amount of ammo, which means that when it runs out of its ammo, it will have to reload. It only reloads when it runs out of ammo. At Level 2+, its freezing effects will deal tick damage every second. It can also damage Lead enemies from Level 0, though due to it not having any damage at Level 0, in reality it cannot damage them until Level 2. It cannot detect Hidden or Flying enemies. The Cryomancer will melt 5% defense every tick, increasing the value it decrease it by with upgrades. It can only melt an enemy's defense by 33%. For example, if an enemy has 50% defense, it will be decreased by 16%. As this tower's damage is quite weak meaning it can only be used to clear out earlier waves, this tower is mostly considered a support tower.

Strategy

This tower should not be used as early-game defense, as it deals no damage until Level 2. At Level 2, the Cryomancer can fend off against weaker enemies like the Normal or Abnormal, though while it can deal some damage to stronger ones like the Normal Boss, its low DPS will make killing it very long. Because of this, the Cryomancer should be used mostly as a support tower alongside other towers. Multiple Cryomancers can be quite effective at slowing down hordes of enemies. Do note that enemies with the Freeze Immunity cannot be slowed down or frozen by the Cryomancer. Larger enemies are also frozen for a shorter amount of time than average-sized enemies. Bosses are immune to being frozen by default. However, they are only partially immune to being slowed down by its chillness effect, as it is only weaker on them. Due to this, the Cryomancer can be very useful for slowing down major bosses such as the Fallen King. The Cryomancer can be useful for decreasing an enemy's defense, allowing your towers to deal more damage to it. It is especially useful as it can melt defense from Level 0, being the cheapest form of defense melting in the game. However, do note that as the defense melting happens when an enemy is frozen or slowed down, freeze immune enemies cannot have their defense reduced. The defense melt can stack with other towers, such as the Pyromancer, Electroshocker or Toxic Gunner, allowing you to remove an enemy's defense entirely. However, the Cryomancer's defense melt does not stack with Frost Blaster's and Freezer's defense melt.

Patch history

Due to a bug, the Cryomancer's inventory description used to be the same as the Pyromancer's. The Level 4 upgrade name, Winter's Fury, is a reference to an upgraded version of the Winter's Howl from Call of Duty: Zombies. The Level 2 upgrade price is also a reference to Group 935. The Cryomancer used to be able to affect units, which made it the only way to decrease the defense of units.
