Description

The Spotlight Tech is a cliff tower which uses a spotlight beam to burn and confuse enemies, while also revealing Hidden enemies. It attacks enemies using a spotlight, which damages enemies with its bright light ray. This light ray takes some time to move from one target to another. This light ray has a specific radius in which it damage enemies. It will damage an infinite number of enemies, though enemies will receive less damage the further they are from the center. Depending on the distance, they will either receive 100% of the stated, 60% or 35%. This spotlight can also apply one of the following effects based on the level: Starting from Level 1, it will apply burn to enemies. This will deal additional damage over time, even if they are not currently in the spotlight's light ray. Starting from Level 2, it will start to reveal Hidden enemies by applying Exposed to them. This lets towers without hidden detection to target them. If the enemy gets out of the spotlight, it will lose Exposed, meaning towers need hidden detection for it again. At Level 4, it can confuse enemies. This happens once it deals 1,800 damage to enemies, after which it will confuse all enemies currently in its spotlight. The Spotlight Tech has a placement limit of one. It can detect Flying enemies from Level 0, Lead enemies from Level 1 and Hidden enemies from Level 2.

Strategy

The Spotlight Tech can be an effective AOE tower, due to it dealing damage to an infinite number of enemies and applying burn. Setting the Spotlight Tech to Random allows it to apply burn to nearly every enemy on the map, potentially increasing the maximum damage output to a far larger extent. Stalling towers like the Toxic Gunner, Freezer or Electroshocker can be used to clump up enemies in one spot, allowing the Spotlight Tech to hit more enemies with its spotlight. Starting from Level 2, the Spotlight Tech has the ability to reveal Hidden enemy in its spotlight diameter. This makes it useful alongside towers that do not have hidden detection, like the Ranger, top path Pursuit or Swarmer. At Level 4, the Spotlight Tech will begin to confuse enemies once it reaches 1,800 total damage. Only damage from the spotlight boosts it. Any damage from burn will not contribute to the threshold, meaning the best method of activating it is having as many enemies in its spotlight as possible.

Patch history

The Spotlight Tech is based on the Spotlights that appeared during the Lunar Overture Event and The Final Act Event. Additionally Spotlight Tech is inspired by theatrical technicians called spotlight operators, hence the name. The Spotlight Tech is the first exclusive cliff tower. The Spotlight Tech is regarded as the Spotlight Technician in the game's description, and the update log in both the Discord server and in-game. The Spotlight Tech is currently the only tower in the game to have two upgrades with the same name (Levels 1 and 3 both share the name Backstage Crew).
