Overview[1]

Town; Abandoned Buildings; The Alamo The Barbed Wire is a defensive item in Dead Rails.

Barbed Wire is a defensive item designed to be welded to the Train. It damages and stuns Enemies that touch it, allowing players to kill them easily. However, Barbed Wire can only be used a limited number of times before breaking, so obtaining several of them is recommended. Barbed Wire is often sold at the General Store in Fortified Towns for $20 each. It can also be found in Abandoned Buildings, Towns, and Outlaw Camps. Additionally, The Alamo class spawns in with 3 Barbed Wires.

Strategies

Pay attention to a Barbed Wire's color. The darker the color, the closer it is to breaking. Barbed Wire won't work unless it is welded to the Train. Barbed Wires can be used to easily secure weak points on the Train, such as the sides or entrances. A key point on the Train to affix wire to is the roof of the cab, as Enemies often will climb aboard and group up there, Barbed Wire pairs especially well with Sheet Metal. The Barbed Wire stuns and damages any enemies that get too close, while the Sheet Metal provides a larger area of protection and keeps enemies from climbing onto the Train.

Trivia

Barbed Wire lasts for around 10-15 hits. (NOTE: This claim requires verification) Barbed Wire also damages Horses and tamed Wolves. Due to Barbed Wire being made out of metal, it is also bulletproof.
