Buildings

LocationsDead Rails

Overview[1]

There are many Buildings that spawn in Dead Rails.

Normal Buildings

Normal Buildings are small structures that spawn throughout the Wild Town, Fortified Town and Lobby. These buildings don't have any conditions for them to spawn. They can spawn multiple times, or none at all. They pose less threats, but therefore, less valuable loot. Tabber; House

Strategy

Headframes still use the old House model instead of the new one. You cannot enter the actual mines themselves as they are blocked off. It is advised to always stop at the mines, as coal is almost guaranteed to be found inside which is one of the best forms of fuel. Minecarts can be found outside, rusty and destroyed. The minecarts can't be picked up or stored; they are only cosmetics and don't really have a purpose.; Furniture Store

Points of Interest

Some special Buildings called POIs (Points of Interest) appear only once per game in a predetermined location. These are way more dangerous than regular buildings, but in return they have more valuable items inside. To clear these places, it is recommended to have good damage dealing weapons such as a Rifle. Tabber; Castle

Towns

Towns are a group of Buildings that can be found in the Wild. They contain more loot compared to a single normal Building, but pose more threats instead. Some can help you throughout your run and can be essential if you want to win. Tabber; Fortified Town; Town; Sterling

Other Buildings

Other Buildings are Buildings/Strutures that don't fit any categories above. They function differently from the common sense of the above Buildings.

Trivia

The windows in the houses are sometimes broken. It is advised to always stop at these houses, as they almost always contain either fuel or valuable items to sell. If not, zombies inside can also be used for fuel. They are one of, if not the most common building in the game, aside from fortified towns, which is guaranteed to appear every 10km. There is a small chance that zombies will not spawn in a building.; Headframe

Patch history

Although Churches do not have naturally spawned zombies inside, they are able to enter and can follow spotted players inside. Sometimes the item may be stuck beneath the floor, making it impossible to pick up or use. Towns are guaranteed to have one church, and it is the most easily identifiable building due to its large stature. These were the only guaranteed buildings in towns, but as of the many classes update, banks are also guaranteed.; Bank; Tabber; Bank
