Overview[1]
Town; Fortified Town; Sterling; Outlaw's Town; Unicorn Island; Runner Zombie; Ironclad Zombie; Dynamite Zombie; Sheriff Zombie Houses are the most common buildings found in Dead Rails.
Houses contain various items such as Junk, Fuel, and occasionally Valuables. Most commonly, they hold Junk and Fuel items like Wheels, Coal, Rope, Barrels, and Vases. Valuables such as paintings, statues, plates, and bars can also be found, though these are very rare. Additionally, Bonds may spawn in houses, but they are even rarer than valuables. Houses appear randomly along the train tracks during gameplay, with no specific requirements for them to spawn. They are easily noticeable against the desert background and can be spotted from a distance. Some houses may be on fire with smoke billowing from the roof, making them stand out even more. Zombies frequently spawn inside houses in groups of 1 to 5, though it’s also possible for a house to spawn empty. Players can easily jump onto their roofs from the railings on either side. Enemies cannot climb onto the roof in most cases, making them useful for shelter at night if the Train isn't fortified yet.

Trivia
The windows in houses are sometimes broken, allowing Zombies to walk through some of them. In the early stages of the game, it makes sense to search houses, as bottles that can be sold for a high price often appear there. The House used to have a table with a lantern. The fire on top of the houses are visual. Players will not take any damage when standing inside them. It is advised to skip these houses, as they almost always contain junk inside, and valuable items are very rare. If you ran out of fuel, Zombies and some junk inside can also be used for fuel. They are one of, if not the most common building in the game, aside from Fortified Towns or Outlaw's Town, which are guaranteed to appear every 10km.
