Overview[1]
Sterling; Lobby; Wild Banks are Buildings found in Dead Rails.
Banks appear in Towns (1 to 5 of them, with a higher chance of more spawning the larger the Town), including Sterling and Lobby. They can be identified as large, red brick structures with a vault door inside. Bank vaults contain several Gold and Silver Bars, as well as 1-6 Bonds. There are 2 variants of Banks that can be identified with the visible damage of the sign and the walls. Normal Banks tend to contain more loot than their destroyed counterparts. Player can access the Bank's vault using multiple methods, listed below. Killing a Banker Zombie that spawned nearby will drop a Bank Note displaying the code. Players can use this code to open the vault door, gaining access to the loot inside. If there were multiple Banker Zombies nearby, players should try each code before finding one that works. The player can also access the vault with any explosive, such as a Dynamite, Gunpowder Barrel, or Firework Gun. By causing an explosion near the vault door, it will be blown open and allow the player to enter. However, this strategy can result in the loot inside being lost due to the explosion, or lead to the player getting killed if the player is not at a safe distance during the explosion. A Dynamite Zombie that was spawned or lured nearby can also be used, though this is much more risky.

Sterling Bank
The Sterling Bank is different from a typical Bank. Instead of killing a Banker Zombie, the player must find 5 Ripped Bank Notes located at various locations of the area. The player may also choose to blow up the vault door, usually through the Dynamite found near the Mines. Unlike a normal Bank, the Sterling Bank will also contain 3 bottles of Snake Oil (which will be lost if explosives are used), a fixed number of Bonds, a fixed lower amount of Valuables, a Maxim Gun, and 1 box of Turret Ammo.
Lobby Bank
The Lobby Bank is different than all other Banks. Instead, they works the same as the shops in Fortified Towns or Lobby. Instead of looting for Bonds, the player can find 6 Bonds tiles which they can buy with Robux. 5 Bonds (49 Robux) 10 Bonds (79 Robux) 20 Bonds (129 Robux) 50 Bonds (199 Robux) The Banker was a special decorative NPC that spawns in the Lobby Bank. He does not have any behavior, other than looking at the nearest players. In Halloween event, he is replaced with Bigfoot, being known as an admin-exclusive entity. He used to be interactable in order to buy Bonds, but since have been removed after the Lobby Rework update and replaced with a glowing circle at the Lobby Bank's door.
Patch history
The Bank in the Lobby sells Bonds with Robux. The Lobby's Bank's vault previously could be turned, but no code will appear. When the player releases the door, it will turn back to its default position, meaning it is presumably impossible to open it. However, it's no longer interactable. Even if it was possible, there is nothing in the vault. It is possible to turn the vault's wheel from the inside by holding on the gray circular part. However, this is only possible through the use of glitches. The numbers are also not visible (except after being entered), making it more difficult to enter the intended one. There is an extremely rare chance that Gold Bars, Silver Bars, or Bonds can be found inside of the Bank outside of the vault. They may rarely spawn entirely outside of the Bank. There was an unused model of the Bank scrapped by the developers. They had a different porch and interior. Technically, it is possible to open a bank safe without the code. However, this will likely require an extreme amount of time or luck due to the number of possible combinations. Since there are 5 digits, there are 7776 possible vault code combinations, calculated by the equation 6⁵. Players have a 0.01286% chance of guessing the code correctly. Zombies may spawn inside the vault (except for Sterling Bank). This may include Banker Zombies, potentially making the code inaccessible without the use of glitches. In the early version of the game, Banks could often spawn outside of Towns. This can still happen, but rarely.
