Overview[1]

10 (Archer, normal); 20 (Archer, headshot); 8 (Archer); Apocalypse Horses (Knight); Unknown, presumably 100 (Archer); cd: Unknown, presumably 3s (Knight); 1s (Archer); spread: N/A (Knight); Unknown (Archer) The Covenants are human hostile Entities in Dead Rails.

The Covenants are Enemies that spawn within Stillwater Prison that wield Swords or Crossbows. 20 of them spawn from one of 6 spawn locations, with a 50% chance of each spawn being either a Knight or an Archer. Knights use the "Drooling Face" while Archers have a modified bearded face resembling that of an Outlaw. Additionally, Covenant Knights can spawn riding a Horse of the Apocalypse. Knights have a Helmet and Chestplate, while Archers only have a Helmet. The Armor pieces themselves block projectiles, causing them to deal very little damage. However, they don't block hits from melee weapons or if the projectile hits an unprotected area.

Lore

Nikola Tesla and his scientists were requested by Washington D.C to create a bioweapon which could mimic the effects of Yellow Fever, Washington D.C gave Nikola full permission to test the bioweapon on death row inmates at Stillwater Prison. This bioweapon was later named "Agent-15" On February 4th, 1898. A riot at Stillwater Prison broke out with guards joining in, Washington D.C sent a telegraph out to Captain Prescott on the events, telling him to deal with it at any cost necessary and to consider the prisoners armed. Sometime during the Zombie Plague, the prisoners of Stillwater Prison found out they were immune to the effects of Agent-15, which also made them immune to the plague, the prisoners and guards of Stillwater Prison took this as being chosen to lead a new era of life, and started a group named the Covenant, the commandments of the Covenant were as followed: We are the immune. We have been chosen to lead humanity to a new era. Zombies shall not be harmed for any reason. Any outside human is an enemy, and should be dealt with on sight. Survival of the Covenant comes before survival of the individual. On October 7th, 1899, a Covenant Agent detonated a bomb laced with Agent-15 in an attempt to assassinate Thomas Edison, this ended in Edison’s brain being quickly transplanted onto life support and later, a bigger robotic body being made for Edison.

Strategy

If using ranged weapons, aim for an area of their body that is not protected by Armor since hitting an Armor piece will do very little damage. Covenant Knights could be treated as Zombie Soldiers using Swords, but with Armor. Covenant Archers are quite weak, having low damage compared to their weapon's reload speed. The Covenants could easily overwhelm you if you are not careful exploring the Stillwater Prison. Take them one by one from a distance, and preferably with a damage-buffing class such as Werewolf, Survivalist or Tycoon, as the Covenants wear helmets to minimalize headshot damage. Do not shoot their heads, as their helmets will singificantly reduce damage to the head. Instead, shoot parts of their body that are unprotected by armor, such as their legs. Due to a bug, the Knights' chestplates do not seem to prevent damage to the torso area, making it a viable place to aim for on all Covenants (the archers do not wear torso armor at all). If the Covenant Knight is riding a horse, try aiming for the arm that is not holding a sword to maximize damage while avoiding accidentally damaging the horse.

Trivia

During the Stillwater Prison raid, 20 Covenants will spawn. The word “Covenant” means an agreement in real life, which may be hinting at future Lore within Stillwater Prison. It seems they have leg and arm Armor, making them different from Ironclad Zombies in two ways. Archers are modified Outlaws, making them sell for $35 each, where the developers probably forgot to change or remove the bounty. Unlike Outlaws, their corpses do not display the "Bounty" tag despite being able to be sold at the Sheriff’s Office. The second (potential) reason is that they are human, which may lead to the “Covenant” part of their name (e.g, they were told to hold Agent-15, and the Goliath was exposed to it; now they agreed with the government to cover it up). Zombies, Banker Zombies, Ironclad Zombies and Covenant Knights all use the "Drooling face" face. The original “Drooling face” face has been removed from the Roblox catalog, the closest would be “Sapphire Drool” unless you want to use a animated face, although, you can still find the original face on the "Drooling Zombie" Roblox model. Outlaws and Covenant Archers use the beard part of the “Daring Beard” face. Covenant Knights will ride the Special Horses, while being surround by Enemies. These Enemies will also wield a Sword instead of a Cavalry Sword. Covenant Archers will sometimes hit the other Covenants with their Crossbow if you align them in line. The Word "Covenant" is equal to the "Ark of the Covenant" and Key Aspects of Biblical Covenants.
