Outlaws can be seen spawning in groups of 1-7 scattered across the Wild, always mounted on Horses. Outlaws can also be found at Outlaw Camps or the Outlaw's Town on foot. After pulling the bridge lever, players will face waves of Outlaws, along with either Runner Zombies or Nikola Tesla. Outlaws are one of the few Entities in the game that wield Ranged Weapons, armed with Revolvers, Sawed-off Shotguns or Rifles, making them more dangerous than other Entities. Besides their damage capabilities, Outlaws have average health (100) and a relatively slow walk speed when they aren't mounted on a Horse. Additionally, Outlaw corpses can be turned into a bounty of $35 at the Sheriff's Office in each Fortified Town, making them a good money source in the early game. Outlaws come with 4 different Weapons: Revolver, Sawed-Off Shotgun, Rifle or Maxim Gun. Each variant comes with a different outfit and weapon, and must reload whenever they run out of ammo. Revolver Outlaws behave similarly to other ranged enemies. They wear a mostly brown jacket, and are mostly dangerous at closer ranges. Shotgunners are very inaccurate and must reload frequently. They wear a brown and black jacket, and only pose a threat when very close. Rifle Outlaws are more accurate than the others, and do high damage even at longer distances. They wear a mostly black jacket, and pose a threat at all distances. Maxim Gunners are only found at the Outlaw's Town.

Lore
The Outlaws of Southern United States form a group. This group is resembled by Blackbeard’s Flag, a flag which means “Your time is up. And you’ll have a violent death.” Not much is known about this group, but sometime in the 1800s the group take control of a walled town bordering the Rio Grande river to Mexico. This town is referred to as “The Bridge”. By the time the Zombie outbreak began, Outlaws were ready to take action, setting up camps and wandering through the vast empty desert, preparing mass looting of towns and preventing survivors from entering Mexico. Outlaws were once criminals and escaped prisons when the plague was announced to the public. To avoid themselves from getting exposed to Agent-15, as they survived, they also took control of the infested desert of Texas.
Bugs
In rare cases, the Outlaw(s) will become invulnerable no matter what weapon the player may attempt to kill them with. Advice: Run far away to avoid getting shot, and give up on looting to protect your health bar.
Strategies
If a horseback Outlaws get close, sack their Horses. This makes the Outlaws sitting ducks (literally), stuck in place and unable to move. You can back up and easily headshot them or melee them at the risk of taking some damage. Unsack the Horses after the Outlaws are killed (doing it before will return them to their original state) to use them or to just free up space. An easy way to deal with Outlaws is for the player to lead them to the cab and Melee them through the wall, since Outlaws on horseback can't climb Trains. Use this with caution, as rarely, they can jump off their Horse onto the train. This may also result in the Horse being killed first, preventing you from using it. The easiest and best way to deal with Outlaws is to snipe at them from afar with Ranged Weapons. The Bolt Action Rifle is the best for this, due to being effectively less affected by damage falloff. When Ranged Weapons are unavailable, the player can try to bait them to the side of the Train to Melee them. However, this can still pose a big risk, as an Outlaw can still land a lucky shot on the player. When fighting Outlaws on horseback, you can kill their Horses to slow them down. However, this isn't recommended, as the generally preferred strategy is to leave the Horses alive so they can be used later. Armor is useful against Outlaws, since it blocks most bullets and reduces the damage of those that hit. The Ghost class is useful against Outlaws, due to ignoring ranged damage. Outlaws always spawn on Horses, making them faster than you with the exception of Outlaw Camps, and the Outlaw's Town.
Patch history
Outlaws are currently one of the only three human Entities in the game. And the Outlaw is the first human Entities added to the game. Friendly Outlaws can use Turrets to hit Enemies. They will have perfect aim. Outlaws have the Blackbeard logo in their back which is also found on the flags at the Outlaw Town. Outlaws can be hatched from Easter Eggs as friendly NPCs. Friendly Outlaws can be killed and sold for money. As of the 5/3/2025 Update, Outlaws are now able to target any Entity and vice versa, with the exception being Horses and Nikola Tesla. Due to the 1% chance of a Unicorn replacing a Horse, it is possible (though extremely rare) to encounter an Outlaw riding a Unicorn. This was made less rare with the addition of the Unicorn Biome, where entire groups of Outlaws may spawn riding Unicorns. The Outlaw's death sound is also used in RiccoMiller's other game Crab Lab, but for a different purpose. This is likely the player reusing assets, since the player's death sound in both games is the same. The Outlaws that spawn during the final battle can attack the Outlaws originally present in the final Outpost, though this is likely a Bug in the game. Outlaws seem to despawn when far away from any players, almost like Soldiers at the Fortified Town when a teammate heads far away and another is still at the outpost. These can be assumed that it is done to prevent lag from distantly loaded Outlaws and soldiers fighting Entities that spawn at night. Strangely, the Horses won't despawn with their rider. Outlaws and Covenant Archers use the “Daring Beard” face.
