Strategy
Although useful to have early game when you don't have any better options, it is recommended to switch the Sawed-Off Shotgun with a more reliable weapon as soon as you get the opportunity.
However, it can still function as a decent sidearm should your main weapon run out of ammo until you find a better replace for a sidearm as well.
The Sawed-Off Shotgun is only reliable at closer distances against single targets due to its extremely high bullet spread, low magazine capacity, and inability to penetrate enemies. Always aim before firing to minimize the spread.

Can be found occasionally in Abandoned Buildings or guaranteed at the Castle.
Can be obtained as a Gamepass, allowing players to start with it every game for an early edge.

Outlaws will sometimes spawn wielding Sawed-Off Shotguns.
Outlaws still use the old Sawed-Off Shotgun model.
The Sawed-Off Shotgun is one of three Weapons that can be obtained as a Gamepass, with the other one being the Mauser C96 and Thompson.
The Sawed-Off Shotgun has about 2.5x more bullet spread than the regular Shotgun, currently the highest known in the game.
Famously in the American Civil War (or anywhere around during the late 1800s), Sawed-Off Shotguns were presumably used by Confederate cavalry who often brought Sawed-Off Shotguns from home.
The Sawed-Off Shotgun has the longest item name. It is so long that the name actually cuts off in the inventory.
