Strategy
Aim before firing to counter the poor hipfire accuracy.
Aim for the head to maximize ammo efficiency.
Use short bursts against weaker enemies to save ammo.
Use shorter bursts to counter the high recoil.
However, close range combat allows you to practically ignore the gradual recoil. This is useful for storming structures like Fort Constitution or Towns due to the densely packed enemies.
Due to its high ammo consumption, it is not recommended to rely on this weapon early on.
Classes with ranged damage bonuses like the Survivalist benefit the most from the Thompson, allowing them to kill enemies with significantly less bullets.
Pros & cons
High DPS.
Fast reload speed.
Large magazine.
Precise scope when zooming in, allowing it to be useful as a sniper (albeit with low damage)
Bullets can pierce through enemies easily, making it ideal for raiding towns.
Obtaining
The Thompson gun is based on the Thompson submachine gun, which was designed in 1917-1920 and used in service in 1921. Its model is based on the Thompson SMG 1921.
This is the first handheld automatic weapon and the second automatic weapon in general.
The developers of Dead Rails said that this gun wouldn't be publicly accessible, as it was in service in 1921, while Dead Rails takes place in 1899, though now it can be obtained through the Gamepasses.
Despite this, there are other contradictions of the timeline with other items and such.
An example of such would be Tesla's building, that had the iconic Tesla tower, being built in 1901, whereas in 1899, Tesla used this building.
