Overview

The Survivalist is a class whose stats depend on the player's amount of health. It can do up to 100% increased damage with melee and ranged weapons at 35% or lower health. Additionally, the Survivalist class spawns with a Tomahawk, increasing their melee combat potential at the start. 1x Shovel 1x Tomahawk Does increased damage with all weapons, proportionate to the amount of health lost. Firearm and melee damage can be ramped up to 2x upon reaching 35% of health and lower. Spawns with a Tomahawk, which is more effective than Shovel. None.

Strategies

When paired with the Vampire Knife, you can effectively counter damage taken by healing against it to stay at a certain health you desire to maximize the benefits of more damage depending on your health. In Nightmare Mode since there is no passive regeneration, the player can stay at the same health and therefore keep the same amount of increased damage, unless they take damage or heal. The Survivalist can kill stronger enemies more easily thanks to its damage boosts, as well as kill enemies in less shots with weaker weapons. The Survivalist pairs well with the Navy Revolver, allowing players to kill Vampires or Zombies in one headshot if below 80% HP You can sell your starting Tomahawk, though this isn't recommended as it's a much better melee weapon than the Shovel. If you have any teammates who don't have a melee weapon, you can also give them one of yours since you spawn with two. If you are confident in your ability to avoid damage, you can intentionally stay at extremely low health to make use of the singificantly increased damage. However, due to the risk of death it's better to stay at higher levels of health so you don't lose the damage boosts due to needing to be revived (multiplayer) or lose the entire run (singleplayer). Memorize the damage values of weapons, the health of enemies (most enemies only have 100), and the appropriate thresholds of the player's health required to kill enemies as quickly as possible.

Patch history

This is one of the most recommended class in Nightmare Mode since passive healing is not present, thus sustaining consistent damage. Unlike the starting items of other classes, the Survivalist’s Tomahawk can be sold for $15. Survivalist technically has no weaknesses. It is the None class with no weaknesses or strengths, but the only strength is that you get a damage boost when taking damage. Thus it has no weakness, since making use of the damage boost is optional. The Survivalist class used to have doubled firearm damage with no requirements, which also stacked with the lower HP buffs (resulting in potentially tripled firearm damage). Although previously stated as intentional, it was corrected a over a year after its release. Category:Gameplay Category:Classes Category:Ability Classes
