Overview[1]
275 Robux (Christmas Bundle); 2x movement speed. 2x melee damage. Heals when covered in normal Blood. Takes damage when exposed to the sun; 1× Vampire Knife; 1× Shovel The Vampire is an offensive Class in Dead Rails.
The Vampire class has double speed and deals double melee damage, providing high mobility and making it an excellent choice for melee combat. It also spawns with a Vampire Knife, allowing it to heal by attacking entities. Additionally, this class also heals when covered in normal Blood. These advantages come with the drawback of taking damage when exposed to the sun, making it slightly risky to use during the day. Players will take sun damage when the sun (positioned ahead and slightly to the left) has a direct line of sight to them rather than when they are directly under open sky. This will happen even on rainy days (when the sun is physically blocked by clouds). Overall, the Vampire class is very powerful thanks to its increased movement speed. However, the sun damage can significantly impact performance for less experienced players. This class also could've been obtained from the Christmas Bundle for 275 Robux. 1x Vampire Knife 1x Shovel Has 100% increased movement speed. This allows it to move at a base speed of 32 (44 when sprinting). This also doubles the speed boost provided by Snake Oil, resulting in 48, 72, or 96 speed (60, 84, or 108 when sprinting). Deals 100% increased melee damage. Heals when covered in Blood. Spawns with a Vampire Knife which heals the player when delivering charged hits, healing the most when fully charged. You are effectively immune to sunlight damage if it starts to rain blood, which is more common in the blood desert biome. Takes 1.6 damage per second when exposed to the sun. This cannot be reduced by armor.

Strategies
During Rain, it can be hard to see the sun, making it almost impossible to block damage using an object. The Shovel can be given to other players or used for fortification. The increased movement speed allows players to outrun all enemies indefinitely, which can be a useful way to survive at night. Stand in Blood puddles to heal or to prepare for long periods of sun exposure. If playing on low graphics, players should get in areas where they physically cannot see the sun, preventing damage. Players can hold items up to block their view of the sun in the sky, allowing travel during the day without taking damage. The Vampire Knife can be used to counter the sun damage. This means enemies can become a source of health. By utilizing their speed, players can easily raid areas at night. It is recommended to bring a Mining Helmet or a Lantern for vision. Using a Snake Oil or Bandages can help neutralize the damage taken from sunlight, allowing players to remain active during the day. This can also be done with the Death Horse or a bottle of Blood or Angel Tears. To maximize the Vampire's potential and ability to farm Bonds, it's recommended to run around a Town and gather up Zombies to kill them with a Molotov, Holy Water, Crucifixes, or the Electrocutuioner. Unlike other classes, Ranged Weapons are not as important for the Vampire to have. While it may be helpful to have one, players should prioritize spending their money on healing items or Coal.

Patch history
The Vampire class is twice as fast as Vampire enemies normally. The Vampire class is one of the few classes that can restore health by standing on liquids. Without any form of healing, the Vampire class can survive 62 seconds while exposed to the sun. The Vampire class is faster than any entity, excluding Unicorns. The Vampire class can move faster than any Train driven by a Conductor if sprinting while under the effect of 3 Snake Oils. Prior to update v1.0.0-alpha.627 on 5/16/2025, players could leave the game while on the loading screen and rejoin quickly, causing them to lose the disadvantage of the sun damaging them. However, they could lose their Vampire Knife and would need to be revived. Despite the description stating that the class takes damage in direct sunlight, the Vampire will still take damage when it is raining, and will take damage during the Tesla Lab fight, even though the sun is blocked in both scenarios. This is most likely an oversight since you can put an item up to the sun to block sunlight. Due to the Vampire Knife nerf, each 100 health enemy is only worth 15 (7.5 healing x 2 fully charged hits) healing instead of 35 (5 healing x 7 uncharged hits). This still allows to heal out the sun damage by a huge margin, outheal lesser damage from weaker enemies and recover damage dealt by Werewolves. The vampire class can take damage from the sun when it moves during dawn or dusk, if the player does not take cover from that angle. The Vampire Class is one of four classes to ever get an official portrait made of them.
