Strategy

  • When playing solo, it's advised to purchase a Revolver or a Navy Revolver and some Ammo at the start, since you likely won't find a weapon right away.

  • Alternatively, if the General Store offers it, a Pickaxe can be a safe source of income and fuel, while also being a weapon.

  • Additionally, the Tomahawk or Cavalry Sword can be good options if you want to play offensively.

  • When playing in a team, try to focus more on driving the Train rather than fighting, at least until you get a weapon.

  • If you have a Vampire, Survivalist, or Knight on your team, ask them to give you their Shovel so you aren't totally defenseless.

Pros & cons

  • Spawns with 2x Coal which is enough to fully fuel the train to the next Fortified Town, allowing players to spend the money elsewhere.

  • Can drive the Train 30% faster.

  • Normal Trains: 65 speed -> 84.5 speed

  • Wooden Train / 80s Train: 75 speed -> 97.5 speed

  • Christmas Train / Frost Train: 80 speed -> 104 speed

  • Offers greater fuel efficiency and greater control when driving the Train.

Tier ranking

Patch history

  • Conductors drive the train 30% faster, resulting in approximately 23.1% lower fuel usage. Thus, the Train will only require about 16 Coal to reach the 80 km mark instead of 20.

  • Prior to the 03/28/2025 Update, the Conductor used to have half the health of other classes. This made it one of, if not, the worst class to pick for a solo game.

  • Conductors are often used by speedrunners due to the increased train speed allowing for significantly faster completion of the game.
