The Pickaxe is a melee weapon with identical statistics to the Tomahawk. It comes with the unique ability to mine Ores with just one charged hit instead of taking multiple charged hits like other melee weapons. This allows players to easily obtain Gold Nuggets and Silver Nuggets to sell, or Coal to fuel the Train. The Pickaxe is occasionally sold at the General Store for $30. Additionally, the Miner class spawns with a Pickaxe.

Strategies
The Pickaxe is both a decent melee weapon and a valuable tool for its ability to easily mine Ores. The Pickaxe is useful for Pacifist Challenge, allowing the player to gain valuables to sell without having to deal with enemies in common POIs.
Patch history
Skeletons can be seen wielding Pickaxes. However, they do the standard amount of damage rather than the Pickaxe's normal damage. Prior to the 4/11/2025 Update, the Pickaxe was exclusive to the Miner class. In older versions of the game, the Pickaxe used to be a reskin of the Shovel that was removed before being reimplemented when the Miner class was introduced.
