The Ray Pistol is a special weapon within Dead Rails.
The Ray Pistol is a special weapon in Dead Rails, only being obtainable in Alien Mode after being dropped from RiccoMiller in his UFO after all 5 Levers are activated. It is actually intended to be a 50/50 drop with another unfinished weapon. It has an infinite reserve of ammo and 10 bullets per round.

Pros & Cons
Decent damage. Infinite reserve Ammo. High magazine capacity. Capable of AOE damage, allowing it to damage enemies through walls and damage multiple enemies without having to line them up. Can be obtained easily at the start of Alien Mode. Can be sold for 100. Doesn't count towards challenges. (possibly a bug) Slightly inaccurate, making it not a good weapon for long range. Can damage the player, and therefore is unreliable in melee weapons' range. Long reload time. Shots can get blocked more easily by objects because of the larger hitbox. Shots cannot penetrate enemies. Cannot be used outside of Alien Mode.
Strategies
The Ray Pistol is outmatched by other weapons such as the Rifle in terms of damage per second. Due to this, players may opt to start Alien Mode for the 100 that it sells for. It is recommended to aim for the legs to do the most damage, allowing players to kill most enemies in a couple of shots. It's best not to use the Ray Pistol when right next to an enemy or in an enclosed space(e.g. inside the Train), as the player can be damaged by the projectile.
Trivia
The Ray Pistol is able to deal damage to players who use it. Developers of Dead Rails have said this is intentional. The model of the Ray Pistol resembles the Ray Gun from Treyarch’s Call of Duty Zombies Franchise. The reloading and firing animations are also reused from said franchise too. The Ray Pistol's scrapped alternative weapon that's a 50% drop instead of it may be the Alien class's Ray Rifle.
