Ores are scattered throughout the Wild, often appearing near the train tracks. There are 3 types of Ores: Coal Ore Silver Ore Gold Ore Ray Ore (Alien Biome Only) When mined, Ores drop Rocks and a corresponding item: Coal Ore - drops 1-3 Coal Silver Ore - drops 1 Silver Nugget Gold Ore - drops 1 Gold Nugget Ray Ammo - drops 1-2 Ray Ammo Gold or Silver Ores drop nuggets of different sizes. The size of the nugget determines the amount of money gained from selling it.

Mining
All ores have exactly 40 HP. Ores will be mined when they reach 0 HP. Pickaxes deal 12 damage when uncharged and can instantly mine Ores when charged any amount. Other melee weapons deal 0 damage when uncharged, 2 damage when partially charged, and 3 damage when fully charged. Mining ores normally takes a long time — requiring 14-20 charged hits using standard melee weapons. However, the Pickaxe can breaks any ore in just 1 charged hit, making it the most efficient tool for mining. Because of this, it’s strongly recommended to bring a Pickaxe (or use the Miner class) if you plan to mine Ores.
Strategies
Mining Gold and Silver Ores is a reliable way to earn easy money, as both Gold Nuggets and Silver Nuggets sell for decent value. Make sure to watch the sides of the tracks for Ores, especially on Trains with obstructed vision. Coal is useful as Fuel and can be mined in batches of up to three nuggets, making Coal Ore particularly efficient for fueling your train. When using standard melee weapons to mine Ores, do not use uncharged hits since they will have absolutely no effect. The second charge level is the most efficient in mining ores quickly. You can still mine ores without a Pickaxe, but it will be significantly slower. This can be a good way to get fuel if you run out of it while being near a Coal Ore.
Trivia
Coal Ore is the only type of ore that drops more than one nugget (ranges from 1-3 per node). Ores can occasionally spawn inside Fortified Towns. There have been ongoing rumors that there are Diamond, Ruby, and Emerald ore existed in the game though they spawn very rarely, which is confirmed to be false.
