Overview

The Tesla Lab is a rectangular building made out of red bricks with a large tesla coil on the roof that always spawns between 9-75km on the right side of the track. It contains the Brain In Jar, Werewolf Limbs, the Strange Machine, and plenty of Junk items. Additionally, it is guaranteed to contain 2 Lightning Rods, 2 Gold and Silver Bars, and at least 1 Chair.

Summoning Tesla

Scattered throughout the Lab are body parts belonging to Nikola Tesla, which can be placed on the operating table in the central room. The limbs can be found in the following locations: On the table inside the right room Behind the wheel used to summon Tesla The back right corner of the central room Right side of the central room near a table Left side of the central room near a table The back left corner of the left room Once everything is assembled, a player must flip the lever in a room with a wheel to begin the summoning process. Once the lever is activated, the Tesla Lab OST will begin as the sky will darken and begin to thunder. Scientist Zombies will begin spawning after a delay of around 20 seconds. The player should have a reliable method of killing them since they build up in numbers very quickly and can easily overwhelm unsuspecting players. Once they are defeated, Tesla will break free from the operating table and escape, leaving the Electrocutioner behind and some Bonds, along with footsteps near the operating table. While this provides the player with a powerful weapon, it also leads to Tesla returning as a boss in Outlaw's Town during the final stand, though he can easily be defeated with the weapon he leaves behind. Players should think carefully before deciding whether to summon him, since it prevents them from selling the brain for money or using it for certain challenges. There will always be 35 Scientist Zombies that will spawn during the Tesla Lab raid.

Strategies

Since the Tesla Lab is not guarded, you can simply take the 4 metal bars and the brain then sell them for easy money. If you need Lightning Rods, make sure to stop here since it's the only place they are guaranteed to spawn. It is recommended to bring a Rifle with at least 70 bullets if the player wishes to assemble Nikola Tesla. If the lab is near a Fortified Town, you can lure the Scientist Zombies there and let the Soldiers kill them for you. Do this with caution as the Maxim Guns can run out of ammo. If your train has Maxim Gun, it can be used in clearing the zombies provided it has enough ammo to last until the end of their attack. The Armored Train can be helpful because it comes with two Maxim Guns with 200 bullets of Turret Ammo from the start. Players can get onto the large Tesla ball atop of the assembly table and camp there, as Scientist Zombies cannot reach them. Be aware that since the zombies will be unable to path towards you, they will form a dense horde outside if left alone long enough. These dense hordes, if formed under the electric ball, can form to a mountain that may later reach the electric ball, causing you to forcefully evacuate. Horses can be very effective in combat as the player can easily outrun the Scientist Zombies and kill them all with one fell swoop using an AoE damage item (e.g., Holy Water, Molotov, etc). Note that this increases the chance of you getting struck by lightning. The corpses of the Scientist Zombies can provide an excellent source of fuel as an abundant amount of them spawn.

Trivia

Tesla Lab used to not spawn at the same 10km zone with the Fort Constitution. It is possible for a Town to spawn inside the Tesla lab. The Tesla Lab appears to be visually based on the Wardenclyffe Tower, an old experimental wireless transmission station once used by the real Nikola Tesla. The Real Tesla Lab is Located In New York, Not in the Desert. It is Likely that the U.S Government Built the Tesla Lab in the Desert, to Experiment Agent-15 and Prisoners in Stillwater Prison so that it doesn't affect the public too much. It was also built in 1901, where Dead Rails takes place as late as 1899. This location contains three unique items: the Brain In Jar, the Electrocutioner, and the Strange Machine The player is unable to get both items at once in a run. In order to summon Nikola Tesla, the player must place the Brain In Jar on the operating table to get the Electrocutioner. In the Fool’s Gold Gamemode it was possible to achieve this, as you could get the Electrocutioner by selling a Fool’s Gold. If Nikola Tesla is summoned and it turns night, the night will be a Stormy Night. However, the respective Enemies will still spawn. Sometimes an object can spawn inside the props scattered around the lab. When you jump on one of the boxes some zombies don't detect you. Currently, Tesla Lab is the only POI that both has guaranteed and randomized loot. The ball on top of the operating table is officially called "Dohiggy"
