Fool's Key; More... Buildings; Towns; Tesla Lab Fool's Gold is a limited Valuable item in Dead Rails.
Fool's Gold is an item found exclusively in the limited time Fool's Gold Gamemode. When sold at a Trading Post, it will spawn random amounts of Money, random Items, or even Enemies. Because the outcome is unpredictable, players needed to exercise caution when selling Fool's Gold. There is also a small chance to obtain the Fool's Key by selling it, which unlocked a special, locked house in Outlaw's Town to complete the Fool's Gold Challenge. Fool's Gold is found in Abandoned Buildings and Towns.

Strategies
Don't sell any more after you got the Fool's Key, as you have a chance to spawn Nikola Tesla, or a Werewolf. Prepare yourself a Rifle or Shotgun so you can deal with enemies that spawned from the Fool's Gold. Although the Dynamite and a Torch is considered a bad spawn, you can still make use of them later by storing them inside the Sack, as it'll be defused. Don't sell Fool's Gold with low health, as you have a chance to die due to entity spawn.
Patch history
The name "Fool's Gold" is commonly used to refer to Pyrite, a mineral that resembles actual gold. Fool's Gold is depicted as a darkened version of the Gold Nugget. The Fool's Key is used to complete the April Fools Challenge. For some reason, the flaming Skeleton spawning from Fool's Gold when dead, all of its limbs will fall apart and lying on the ground. When you attempt to pick it up (no matter where), you'll always end up dragging its head instead. Enemies spawned from Fool's Gold do not attack allies, nor do allies attack them, which might be intentional to keep the challenge's difficulty. It is currently unknown if Nikola Tesla's corpse can be sold. If so, left to be unknown if the Electric Remains challenge can be done with this.
