The Pestilence Horse, or Pestilence, is one of the 4 Horses of the Apocalypse in Dead Rails, being the 4th Apocalypse Horse to spawn in The Wild alongside with War, Death and Famine.
The Pestilence Horse has a zombified appearance and periodically emits fly particles. It spawns between the 70km and 80km mark and will be ridden by a Covenant Knight with 5 Werewolves nearby. It spawns between 70km and 80km mark. It is unobtainable through normal means in modes with a shorter map length due to its spawn location being outside the map. When ridden by a player, the Pestilence Horse will convert nearby living enemies into allied units. Additionally, nearby friendly entities that were previously converted will be "refreshed" at full health.

Strategy
Due to how its conversion mechanic works, players can utilize nighttime spawning to create a massive army with very little effort. It is possible to "defeat" a boss by riding the horse near it for a few seconds. If done correctly, the boss should no longer be aggroed onto the player after conversion. Be careful when doing this with Goliath since he can instantly kill players with his ranged attack. The Pestilence Horse is very useful in Endless Mode since it can neutralize enemies without having to kill them.
Patch history
The Pestilence Horse used to resurrect dead entities instead via Primordial Soup mechanics. This stopped working when the original ability broke in the Item Rework Update before it turned into the current ability once the horse's functionality was restored. Unlike regular leather saddles, the saddles of the Apocalypse Horses are completely gold and will always be attached to them by default. The golden saddles currently do not exist outside of being attached to the Apocalypse Horses, and therefore cannot be used on anything besides them. It is unknown if they have additional affects besides being visually distinct. Pestilence used to have the most powerful form of resurrection in the game. It could revive multiple corpses at once at no additional cost, and can keep doing so as long as no Jade items were used on it yet. The Pestilence Horse is considered overpowered by many players due to its ability. The Pestilence Horse could've actually covered player corpses in Primordial Soup as well, though this didn't have any practical uses outside of quickly getting the Primordial Soup challenge done. In Endless Mode, pestilence will be the only apocalypse horse that spawns after 80km. The player should be extra careful when killing Zombie Miners near this Horse, as they will be revived as well near the player and Pestilence Horse. Their explosion can damage and fling entities.
