Zombie Soldiers can primarily be found at Fort Constitution when players first step into the area. This causes the Fort Contitution theme song to start playing, and spawn 24 Zombie Soldiers inside one of the 2 barracks or the armory located inside (usually the one closest to players). Additionally, 10 Zombie Soldiers on Horses will spawn in front of Fort Constitution after 90 seconds in intervals of 5 seconds. There are 4 variants of Zombie Soldiers. Those wearing a khaki uniform (officially called "Officers") will wield either Navy Revolvers or Cavalry Swords. Those in blue (officially called "Soldiers") will either have a Revolver or attack with their arms. Zombie Soldiers with a ranged weapon move much slower than those who deal melee damage and are very similar to the Sheriff Zombie. Zombie Soldiers have different damage depending on what weapon they spawn with. Zombie Soldiers armed with Revolvers can also spawn as passive allies near players using the Lincoln's Ghost's Top Hat.

Lore

On February 17th 1898, Prescott and his men are eventually turned into Zombies, likely from exposure to Agent-15. They now reside in Fort Constitution. It is assumed that the reason Captain Prescott didn’t respond to the telegraphs is that he and his men were already exposed to the bioweapon. Some Soldiers who survived the exposure left Fort Constitution and set up defenses to protect themselves as well as the survivors - the Fortified Towns.

Strategy

Do not use melee weapons against ranged Zombie Soldiers since they can kill players in seconds. Weapons with good range allow you to maintain a safe distance from them while doing high damage, potentially to multiple of them at once. Use strategies for Runner Zombies against melee Zombie Soldiers. Use strategies for Outlaws on foot against ranged Zombie Soldiers. Use strategies for Outlaws on horseback againse cavalry Zombie Soldiers. Do not aim near their right (left for players) arm, as their weapons can block bullets due to being metal. Players should consistently check on all 3 spawning buildings because if they let their guard down, several Zombie Soldiers may come from one of them and ambush the player. Alternatively, stay at the gates of Fort Constitution and eliminate them one at a time. However, make sure to not stay there for too long to avoid being ambushed by the horseback enemies. Some Zombie Soldiers may get stuck inside their spawn. If ranged units are present, it is recommended to shoot them through the windows if possible to avoid being shot. Alternatively, you can also just leave them be if they didn't spawn in the armory or with Captain Prescott since the barracks don't contain anything important. Using Snake Oil or a Class which provides speed such as Vampire (Class), Werewolf (Class) (only at night) or Horse (Class), the player can return to the train quickly to avoid fighting the horseback Enemies. This is also possible if you just quickly raid the armory and leave.

Patch history

Zombie Soldiers are one of the few hostile Entities in the game spawning with Ranged Weapons. The Zombie Soldiers are essentially a reskin of Outlaws, resembling of the formerly bounty despite having no "Bounty" tag displayed and Outlaws Chase theme playing when they spawned. Before the 3/15/2025 update, players were able to sell every single Zombie Soldier for $35 at the Sheriff's Office. This allowed players to generate an unbelievable amount of money, and was quickly removed due to being insanely overpowered. Currently, the Covenant Archers also have the same problem as the former Zombie Soldiers since the Knights not being able to be sold. Despite being allies, Zombie Soldiers spawning from the Lincoln's Ghost's Top Hat also play the Outlaws Chase theme, which might be annoying for people who constantly listen to this music for a long time. It also prevents players from using the music as a form of awareness, as players would know there are Outlaws nearby upon hearing this music in normal cases. The same might go for other enemies such as Werewolves. These Enemies were added in the 2nd major Update of the game. Captain Prescott is essentially a reskin of the Zombie Soldier, more specifically the one that spawns with a Cavalry Sword. However, he does drop a key upon death and can be turned in for $150. Since the game takes place in 1899, it can be assumed that the soldier's here are wearing the standard American Khaki M1899 uniform, used a year after the Spanish-American War, the blue in the uniform (the M1885 wool shirt) would be worn under the M1899 tunic.
