The Ladder is a utility Item that can occasionally be found in Abandoned Buildings. Its main function is to allow players to climb it. Its large size also makes it useful for Train defense. Despite being a wooden Junk item, it cannot be sold or used as fuel.

Strategies
Though the Ladder functions when unwelded, it is more reliably when welded due to players being able to push it around otherwise. Ladders can be used to easily access the roof of some Trains. When using Ladders for fortification, it is generally recommend rotating it on the blue axis so its tall vertical height can be used to efficiently block doors.
Patch history
The ladder currently has no category indicator. It is the only Junk item that cannot be sold. Before the July 4, 2025 update, the ladder climbing mechanic only applied to Cattle Car (Trains). The Lobby has an enlarged ladder behind the Church (added to allow players to collect an egg for Roblox's Hatch event) along with 2 invisible ladders located at either of the Bank's windows.
