Description

The Medic is an intermediate support tower that provides various buffs to other towers and replenishes base health after it has been lost. It can be unlocked from the store for 2,000 Coins. The Medic heals base health by a specified amount each wave with Take your Vitamins. The amount of health healed increases with the level of the Medic and the amount of Medics placed down. It also has the ability to overheal, increasing base health to value higher than its maximum. If there are multiple Medics, the health regeneration and overheal stacks with each Medic. Similarly, these effects stack with other sources of such effects, like Skills. The Medic holds a medi gun, which it can use to apply a shield to towers. Whenever shielded, the tower will have a shield modifier on them. This shield provides a passive 15% Firerate Buff and an immunity to stuns. It does not grant an immunity to debuffs or freeze. If the tower is stunned, its shield will be broken instead, reappearing shortly after. At Level 0, it can only shield one tower, but this is increased up to five at Level 5. It cannot shield other Medics or any tower currently shielded by another Medic. There is a 0.5 second cooldown before another tower can be selected or deselected. At Level 3, it gets the Ubercharge ability. This provides all towers shielded by the Medic with a Damage Buff, Stun Immunity and Freeze Immunity for a brief period of time. While it may look like this is tied to the shield, this is not actually the case. The Damage Buff will remain on the tower, even if its shield is gone.

Strategy

The Medic has the ability to permanently grant a Firerate Buff and temporarily grant a Damage Buff to towers, making it very useful as a support tower. However, unlike other towers like the Commander, DJ Booth or even the Mercenary Base, it is not able to apply it to every tower in range, it can only apply it to a few of them. Because of this, players may need to either place down multiple of them to cover most or all of their towers, or only target the most important of their towers. Due to its limited tower selection, towers with naturally low placement limits like the Turret or Gatling Gun are a great pick when using the Medic, as their low placement limits mean few Medics are needed to boost them all. With all four Medics placed down, you can still boost up to 20 towers, so towers like the Minigunner or Swarmer can still be paired with it, although you might have to leave some towers unboosted. The Medic can give towers a shield, which stops them from being stunned once. This does not stop either debuffs or being frozen. These towers are still affected by these effects, but they will not lose their shield from them. When its shield is broken, the targeted tower not only loses its immunity to stuns, but also the Firerate Buff provided by the Medic. It does not however, lose any of its Ubercharge buffs. If the shield is regenerated in the middle a stun, the stun will removed. This means the duration of towers assigned to a Medic cannot be longer than its shield regeneration cooldown.

Patch history

The Medic is the second tower that has the ability to restore base health, although it is currently the only one to do so. The first tower able to do so was the Gladiator, although it has since lost this ability. It is not the only way of healing back base health, as the Turkey Leg and Fruit Cake consumables can also do that. The item the Medic carries from level 0-4 resembles the Medi Gun from Team Fortress 2. Originally, the Medic carried a syringe gun that resembled the Syringe Gun in Team Fortress 2. The tower also had an old description ("MEDICCCCC!") that was a reference to Team Fortress 2. At Level 2, Vitamins from R2DA can be seen on the Medic's belt. The Medic's Level 3 upgrade name is a reference to the meme Yeah, This Is Big Brain Time. During Hardcore Testing BETA, the Medic had the same upgrade icons and upgrading prices as the Mecha Base, barring the placement cost. Until the Overhaul Update, the Medic's Level 5 upgrade was misspelled as Goddess or Healing. The Medic was unable to heal base health in the now removed Versus mode. The Medic originally had a red cross shoulder patch, which violates Geneva Conventions Laws, as it is being used by the ICRC and is strictly restricted to be associated with real-world medical aid. The Medic's Ubercharge ability icon came from Ashea: Reborn, where it was used as an icon for the Heal skill. From Null Medic's logbook description, the Medic has scars on itself.
